The taste of the air was like release, and the sound of the crashing waves gave new life to the woman sleeping among the sand. A figure was next to her, cuddled into the crook of her neck, sleeping ever so peacefully, eyes closed gently. Hair as orange as flames and eyes to match, gentle touches that drove her onto the edge. Their peace, their happiness, just them being together, that was all she needed in life to live on, all she needed to keep herself moving. The sickly sweet smell of him, the smell of the forest, the smell of the ocean. How did they come to be like this? How did they come to be so together, joined as one upon the beach? There was no feeling so solitude, but that of comfort, and she dared not to shift her position, in fear that he would move away.

The sun was hardly rising above the surface of the sea, the bright star glimmering softly over the ocean, painting it yellow and pink. The sky above was free from clouds, like it had just recently rained. The sand was so warm beneath her, and her uncovered feet dug into the grainy surface, before she turned her head to look upon the man she loved.

Her heart strings were pulled as she looked upon the sleeping human, his face was devoid of anger, or pain. His servitude as a monster was gone, and so they could be like this. His arms were wrapped around her waist; his body pressed so close to hers. But there was no traditional poof, or any embarrassment showing. This was their time, and they would spend every moment of it in happiness, because there was no longer a person who could hurt them. The curse was gone, and she had him, that's all she needed.

"Tohru," the voice was so soft that she hardly even heard it. She felt the grip around her waist tighten and he snuggle closer, if that was even possibly. She raised her hand from her side and played with the stray hair that mingled across his forehead. Brown eyes so intrigued by him, so in love with him. She leaned forward, and her lips met his forehead and she could feel a tug of a smile on his lips as they touched her neck. "Tohru, how did this happen?" he murmured into her, his orange eyes opened now, their depths light with the simple emotion of love.

"What did happen, Kyo?" she whispered into his forehead, her limbs feeling numb for a second. "Did we run away together? Or...?" She smiled and her long chocolate locks brushed against his skin. Her delicate fingers ran down his cheek and onto his arm. "Are we always together now?" she spoke in a low voice, the sound of her love burned through her vocals. "Did we drive together over the edge? Did we go past the point of no return?" she whispered, her lips still pressed against his forehead.

"We are far past that, Tohru, we have gone far past the point of no return," he mumbled, a chuckle slipping past his lips. Tohru didn't hear anything more except for the crashing waves at her toes, and the call of the sea birds. Her brown eyes lost within the depths of his orange ones. "We have made it," he whispered, closing in on her lips. She felt her breath hitch, and he pressed his warm lips upon hers and whispered one word onto them. "Together."

The everlasting sweetness, your touch, your breath. Mingling heart beats and precious smiles. Together.
