The Battle raged all around her, Blueclaw, warrior of StormClan was fighting with all her might. She shrieked with pain as claws tore her flank. The Shadows of the Past was gaining steadily over the warriors. Two Shadows lept out of hiding and attacked Blueclaw and her fellow Clan mates. Darktalon, Blueclaw's mate, was attacked viciously. One Shadow tore at his pelt, while the other slashed his throat. Splashfur and Rosepetal lept to their father's defence while the StormClan healer, Spottedlight, tried her best to stop the blood from flowing.
"I need cobweb fast to stop the bleeding" She yowled to her apprentice, Goldenpaw.
Goldenpaw nodded too horrified to talk and raced off. Darktalon was weakening.
"Blueclaw" he whispered hoarsely "come here please"
Blueclaw padded over to her mate's side "Yes?"
"Blue, why did your father call them Shadows of the Past?"
Blueclaw closed her eyes and thought back to when Greystar had first encountered them
"Because they were shadowy figures"
"And what else?"
"They were apparitions of cats from the past, bad evil cats."
"Exactly" Darktalon coughed and blood splattered on the ground "Blueclaw, you need to find out where they come from"
Realisation hit Blueclaw "The caves in SwiftClan"
"They must come from a dark place"
She looked at Darktalon for approval, but his eyes were closed
"Blueclaw" Spottedlight spoke gently "Let Darktalon rest"
"I need to talk to him" Blueclaw protested
"If he is to heal he will need peace, even as he sleeps he worries for you, his clan and his kin"
Blueclaw looked at her daughter Rosepetal, and then at her son, Splashfur.
"Let's go join the battle" said Blueclaw grimly.
As the three cats raced off Spottedlight could only pray that they would be safe.
As Blueclaw and her kin raced toward the battleground she crashed into another cat.
There was a muffled apology "Sorry!" the she-cat paused "umm… can you get off me now?"
"Leopardtail?"
"Nahhh. I'm Shadowsky"
At the name of the ancient evil cat; Blueclaw shuddered.
"Now isn't the time to be joking about that" said Splashfur seriously "Especially when Shadowsky is somehow back"
"I'm sorry" Leopardtail apologised and bowed her head then quickly perked up "Some cats from SwiftClan have found something that might help us win this battle! Follow me!"
Leopardtail led the three StormClan cats to a cave in SwiftClan territory. Blueclaw saw a familiar cat,
"Father!" she cried.
Leopardtail gasped in shock "Blueclaw, Greystar is fighting Shadowsky!"
Greystar looked up, and in that moment the shadowy cat slashed his throat.
"Nooooooooo!" Howled Blueclaw.
Without thinking she attacked her father's killer.
Shadowsky barely had time to react as Blueclaw sank her teeth into his throat, severing the main artery in his neck. His cry was cut short as he choked on blood.
The Shadows vanished suddenly.
"Blueclaw you did it we won!" Said Rosepetal
Blueclaw managed a weak smile as a cheer rose from the cats all around her. She looked up at the sky as the sun rose starting a new day.
