Ardeth caught a glimpse of the tattoo on the wrist of the man standing next to him, and had to regain his composure, though that took only a fraction of a second. He remembered the story he had been told about the prophecy. His father had only told him the story once – it was a part of the story about the Scorpion King. "Then I would reply 'I am a stranger traveling from the west, it is I whom you seek' how did …"

The Medjai warrior will know by this that the bearer of the sacred mark is a fellow Medjai and is the one destined to defeat the Scorpion King and send his armies to the underworld.

"Then it is true, you have the sacred mark."
