AN: Just a very quick one. Not even checked or beta-ed or anything - I know, how terrible. I just had to do it because someone showed me a leaked picture of the wedding in the coming Season 3 and my little heart broke a little bit. I'm not a manic johnlock shipper, I much prefer to skirt around the edges of a little too close friendship, but still... gaaah! I'm only guessing Mary is the character, from the Sign of 3 (/4) clue.

Disclaimer: I don't own them - I never would have done this to them if I did!

"Sherlock, contrary to the opinions you frequently make so abundantly clear, we both know I am neither blind nor stupid. I love John, and I love everything about John, whether or not I like it. You are one of those things. There is no way you will ever be removed from him, and you two are so much a part of each other that I would never allow it, were it even possible. Therefore, I may not like you very much right now, though I can easily see that changing in the very near future, but I love you. And I will never purposefully hurt you."

Sherlock was silent. Mary knew he had processed everything as swiftly as she had spoken it, so perhaps he was simply absorbing it thoroughly. Or perhaps he was just deleting it. But then he looked up to her, and she saw the warmth of understanding in those normally cold eyes.

"I'm sorry," she said quietly, "I can imagine how I would feel if anyone ever took him away from me. So I'm not taking him anywhere. But you will have to learn to share, or this will never work, for any of us."

"You cannot share a person." He scoffed.

"No, I can; it is you that has the trouble." Mary laid a hand on his arm, surprised when he did not shake it off, or even look distastefully at the contact. "Sherlock, I will repeat myself as you seem to have a small problem with hearing me. I know, I know, you listened well enough, but you did not hear. I love every part of John – you are perhaps one of the biggest parts of him, but I am another. If we cannot learn to let each other have a little of him then he will not be whole. One of those parts will be ripped away."

Mary felt her stomach drop a little when unexpected tears welled in Sherlock's eyes. They swam around over his lower eyelid, not quite breaching the edge, just magnifying the tiny blood vessels in the white behind them.

"I would never break him again, Mary." It was a tiny whisper and was as close to an agreement as she was going to get. And it would do. It would more than do.

"Neither would I, Sherlock." She leaned over and pressed a warm kiss to his pale cheek. He allowed her, and maybe he even leaned into it a little. "Thank you for listening."

"I thank you too."

Not quite END.
