For Kelly, everyone was the enemy at one point or another. She didn't trust people nor did she choose to get close to them. That's was just how she was. Preferring to be alone rather than with others, she took more time simply being with her pokemon then with other people.
Paul was a little different from the norm people. He was cold and rather calculative. He didn't show his emotions and was, moreover to her, a bit of a douche; and she liked him that way. She wouldn't try to change nor argue with the way he acted. She liked him the way he was.
There were a few people that they'd run into, asking him that he was better off to change or that his personality wasn't favorable. He ignored these things, of course, simply brushing it off as nothing.
Why Paul let Kelly travel with him, she didn't quite understand. But for some reason, he let her follow him around, even if she wasn't what one would call 'quiet'.
She picked on him and his pokemon all of the time; never once letting any word in edge wise. He give a simple grunt in reply and didn't really reply.
"Dude, everyone thinks you should change." Kelly stated, lying down on the grass. Her Venonat, Toxic, sat beside her. She gazed up at the sky, watching the clouds pass.
"I don't really care." Paul grunted in reply.
Kelly smirked at the young man who was staring off into the distance. He didn't seem like he let anything get to him but there were times she had to wonder.
"Is that really it? Come on? That never shakes you up at all?"
"No, why would it?" He folded his arms over his chest, closing his eyes for a brief moment. "Like I care about what other people think anyway."
Kelly smirked at his words, pushing herself up from the ground. She got to her feet and walked over to him. Balling her hand into a fist, she punched his arm rather hard.
"You're such a douche." She jested. "But you're my douche, so it's okay."
Paul simply smirked, though; there was a hint of annoyance on his features. He barely reacted to the punch at all, simply shrugging it off as if it were nothing. That was really what she loved about him.
There was no need for change. He was who he was; and in the end, that's all that really counted.
