Love wasn't a word in Sebastian Smythe's vocabulary. He rolled his eyes at the mere idea and thought anyone who believed in it stupid. Love was for children and it was completely idiotic. He much preferred to flirt, fuck and then move on to the next, only to repeat the process all over again. He'd seen more naked men in one year than most people would see in their entire lives and to say that he was proud was a bit of an understatement. His cocky smirk, his sultry gait, everything, every single goddamn thing, said he was a slut and damn proud of it. Only one guy had ever managed to resist his advances:
Dave Karofsky.
When Dave originally turned him down, Sebastian played it off with his smug little smirk, his quick wit and cruel nicknames, acting like he really didn't give the lesser of a damn, saying he was just offering Dave a pity fuck and that he could do much better if he wanted to. But in all honest, Sebastian was used to being wanted and rejection didn't sit well with him.
So he kept trying, pressing a little more every time and getting closer to Dave. He hadn't been sure as to what reason Dave had to reject him, Sebastian Smythe, of all people, but he was going to do his best to find out. Slowly, he and Dave grew closer, the hurtful nicknames fading away and being replaced with teasing jabs and "Bas" and "D" and inside jokes that let Dave see that Sebastian wasn't all that bad. Even when they hung out, Sebastian never once tried to get Dave into bed, despite the teasing come ons and the flirty attitude that Sebastian didn't seem able to turn off.
One day, without his consent or knowledge, Dave fell for Sebastian. He fell hard and ungracefully and faceplanted into the metaphorical dirt. He could never tear his eyes off of Sebastian for more than a few moments and he couldn't stop the damn butterflies in his stomach from beating their wings excitedly whenever Sebastian gave him one of those knowing smiles.
If Sebastian had caught on to Dave's less than discreet crush on him, he didn't let on. He kept going, day after day, pretending to be merely friends and putting on his cocky bravado and only letting himself be who he really was, a science nerd with an unhealthy love for The Big Bang Theory, laughing at all the dorky jokes that left Dave sitting there trying to work it out and only understanding minutes later. He let himself sing the music he wouldn't dare own up to having on his iPhone and he sang it without care of what Dave thought.
Sebastian Smythe didn't believe in love, but if he did believe in it, he would be certain that love was what he felt for Dave Karofsky.
