A/N: I loved this movie! Sue/Reed and a little baby on the way.
It still seemed so surreal to Sue that she was rubbing her hands over her stretched out belly. Her belly felt like an overfilled balloon that was about to pop. Her sweet little baby would be born any day now. Reed and Sue had set up the nursery in gender neutral colors. They had decided they would like the baby's gender to be a surprise. Sue knew that Reed was doing it as a personal favor to her, because he had wanted to know. Sue personally would love to have a little girl to dress up like a princess and have tea parties with, but she would love a little boy no less.
"Sue?" Reed's voice called out from the living room. "Do you mind coming out here for a second?" His voice sounded very sober. He had been trying not to talk about sad or serious things in front of Sue to keep her stress level down. Reed was very excited to become a father but wanted to make Sue's pregnancy as easy as possible.
"What is it?" Sue asked warily as she walked into the living area. Reed, Johnny, and Ben were standing together, Johnny's normal goofy grin was missing and Ben's eyes were very dark and serious. "Is something wrong?" The hairs on the back of her neck were standing up as she looked at the trio.
"Kind of." Johnny said, and moaned when Ben elbowed him in the head. "Ouch!" He silenced himself when Reed looked at him. Johnny wasn't known for being the most tactful and often ended up digging himself into a hole when left to do the explaining. Reed had already told Ben and Johnny to keep their mouths shut and let him talk to Sue.
"Sue, we have a new threat. One that I, nor anyone, expected. You know all those alarms that we've been having?" Reed paused and Sue nodded, slowly, trying to figure out where this was going. "Well, we have figured out why. I tracked the points and they seemed to follow a pattern. Beijing, China being the last one. It is spelling out a giant four on the globe. There is still one point missing, but we're narrowing down the possible locations." Reid pressed a button on the remote he was holding and a picture of the globe popped up. There was no denying the shape.
"Still, why are we worried, it could just be a coincidence. It might even be just how you interpreted the lines." Sue didn't want to believe that someone was coming after them. Didn't they deserve a little bit of time to be happy? Didn't they deserve to be celebrating the birth of their little girl with nothing else on their mind? Unfortunately, there was a long list of people who wanted revenge against them. Their line of work left enemies left and right. While they did have a huge fan base, no everyone viewed them as heroes. Sue looked at the three boys that were facing her. They looked so concerned and unhappy. She knew that this was serious.
"What Reed is saying, is that, maybe, we have a new threat. We don't want anything to happen to you." Ben said, taking up the space while Reed tried to come up with that in simple words. "We care about you and the baby." Ben shoved his hands into his pockets. He didn't know what else to say. He could tell by the look on Sue's face that she was scared and upset. It was what they had been trying to avoid by keeping the news from her as long as they could.
"You're my sis, and nothing should happen to you, especially right now." Johnny chipped in, his voice dead serious. When it came to Sue, he wasn't the playful, cute Johnny. Johnny cared for Sue and would rather let himself be killed than have anything happen to her. He loved his sister. He wanted to give her a hug, but he could tell that she was not looking for comfort at the moment. "We're going to take care of this. We just thought you should know."
"Guys, I can still take care of myself you know." Sue said, rolling her eyes. She got up and Reed stretched his arm out to open the bedroom door for her. He sensed that she needed a few minutes alone. Reed knew that she had been hoping for the least stressful pregnancy that she could have. He knew with being superheroes, life was never easy, but he had hoped they could at least celebrate the birth of their child. Sue slammed the door behind her and suddenly everything went black.
