"It's Not My Time" by 3 Doors Down.

* * *

Violet was tromping through the forest at night, moonlight occasionally cutting through the trees. She didn't know how late it was, but it had to be late.

And then she heard it. She couldn't be sure she heard it.

Looking back at the beginning of this

And how life was

Just you and me loving all of our friends

Living life like an ocean

But now the current's only pulling me down

It's getting harder too breath

It won't be to long and I will be going under

Can you save me from this?

And then, there it was again.

HELP ME. . . HELP ME . . .

Cause it's not my time I'm not going

There's a fear in me it's not showing

This could be the end of me

And everything I know

Oh but I won't go

She stopped in her tracks, looking behind her for the source of the noise.

HELP ME. . . HELP ME . . .

I look ahead to all the plans that we made

And the dreams that we had

I'm in a world that tries to take them away

Oh but I'm taking them back

Cause all of this time I've just been too blind to understand

What should matter to me

My friends this life we live, it's not what we have

It's what we believe in

She looked around, confused.

The voice, though sounding very familiar, didn't seem to be coming from one particular source.

Cause it's not my time I'm not going

There's a fear in me but it's not showing

This could be the end of me

And everything I know

But it's not my time I'm not going

There's a will in me and now I know that

This could be the end of me

And everything I know

Oh but I won't go

I won't go

And then, suddenly, she could see the silhouette of a figure, walking towards her.

HELP ME. . . HELP ME . . .

There might be more than you believe

(There might be more than you believe)

There might be more than you can see

Violet abruptly turned away, running and slipping past trees. She could hear the figure catching up.

And then, suddenly, she felt a pair of arms around her knees, and she crashed to the ground.

But it's not my time I'm not going

There's a fear in me it's not showing

This could be the end of me

And everything I know

But it's not my time I'm not going

There's a will in me and now it's gonna show

This could be the end of me

And everything I know

Oh

"Help me . . . please. . ." the figure rasped, and Violet looked up at her attacker.

Moonlight slightly illuminated the figure, and Violet screamed.

The figure was herself, wild-eyed and desperate, the whites of her eyes particularly popping out at her in the dim light.

"Help me!" this Violet wailed, stretching her arms to the other Violet, who was scared out of her wits.

There might be more than you believe

(There might be more than you believe)

There might be more than you can see

And Violet woke up, screaming her lungs out.

But I won't go

No I won't go down

Yeah

She shivered, hearing in the distance, a little voice in her head, pleading with her, begging her to help her.
