"NO! DONT TOUCH IT! IT'S MINE!" four year old Danny Fenton screamed as he tore down the hallway, only to collide with the stairs at the end.
Six year old Jazz Fenton continued to run ahead with Danny's favourite toy in her hands, laughing her head off.
Danny broke down in tears. His head hurt, and he'd lost his favourite toy. He started crying again, thinking of his lost toy and what his sister would do to it. No one was allowed to play with his thermos. It was his.
Maddie Fenton heard the cries of her son and dropped her and Jack's latest invention to go to her son's aid.
"What's wrong hunny?" she said as she scooped him up in her arms, cradling him as he tried to soothe him and stop him from crying.
"Jazzy... jazzy stole my ther...thermos!" he said, bursting into tears again. She held him closer, trying to calm him down.
"Do you want me to go get it back?" she asked, sitting him on the table so he could look at her. He just nodded.
"Only happy kids get toys though. Are you happy?" she asked again. He immediately ran his hand over his eyes and wiped away the tears, flashing a smile that Maddie loved.
She smiled and walked up the stairs to Jazz's room, returning a few seconds later with Danny's precious thermos. She didn't really understand what was so special about it. It was just a thermos after all.
But he seemed to have made a huge attachment to it, so she wasn't going to be the person to rip it away from him.
She handed it to him, and his eyes brightened at the sight of it.
He squealed, and hugged it close to him.
Maddie turned to go back to her work smiling, when Danny spoke.
"Mummy. I love you."
Nothing could stop Maddie Fenton after that.
