Homecoming

Disclaimer: I do not own the canon characters; they belong to Disney. I did, however, name Fergus' hunting hounds with traditional Scottish baby boy names. This is dedicated to my dear friend from the other side of the world, Rival Argentica, whom is in love with the Brave fandom almost as much as she loves Puss in Boots. I hope you all enjoy! Based on the drabble prompt: "Of course I remembered!"

Word Count: 220

Fergus returns home from war on a sunny day with no clouds in sight. The recently appointed King of Scotland's clans thunders across the landscape on the back of his valiant steed, a certain mission in mind.

"Come on, boys!" Fergus calls to his two hounds, Seamus and Arran, as the castle comes into sight. "We're nearly home!"

With as much speed as possible, Fergus dismounts his stallion before giving the hounds a scratch on the ears and a bone apiece as a reward.

His next stop is the music room within the castle.

"Elinor!" Fergus loudly calls, all but throwing open the thick, wooden door. "I'm back, love," he whispers, dropping onto his knees beside his wife, pressing a kiss to her knuckles.

"Oh, Fergus! I was so worried about you!" Elinor gasps, pressing her husband's head against her chest as she strokes her hand through his fiery locks. "You're not hurt, are ya?"

"I'm fine, lass. Just fine," he assures. "I almost forgot! These are for you, Elinor. I picked 'em myself. Happy anniversary, darlin'!" Fergus grins, presenting her with a bouquet of wild flowers.

"You remembered!" Elinor gasps, tears in her eyes.

"Of course I remembered!" Fergus loudly announces with a smile. "Why else do you think I was so eager to get the war over with?"

Author's Note: And here it is! My first Brave story! Of course I had to write for Fergus X Elinor; they are one of my favorite OTPs out of most movies, not to mention one of my top Disney OTPs! Fergus reminds me so much of my grandfather during the throne room scene and whenever he gets flustered when Elinor asks him to speak to Merida about the suitors. To my dear Soul Sister, Rival Argentica, I hope you enjoyed this drabble! Trust me, there are plenty more Brave stories to come, particularly ones centering around Fergus and Elinor. I already have several ideas, so check back for those at some point in time! As always, reviews are greatly appreciated! Until next time, dear readers; I hope you all have an amazing day, afternoon, or night!
