Obsessed with Treasure

"It's not true. I'm not obsessed with treasure."

"Not all treasure is silver and gold, mate."

He remembered his conversation with Will clearly. The whelp had stubbornly been denying it, the piratical urge to reach for treasure, especially in the form of a beautiful woman. But he, Jack, was a pirate, and made no secret of being obsessed with treasure. Made no secret of wanting her.

And Elizabeth was the greatest treasure he had ever gained, more precious than the purest gold, bought with more blood and suffering than the most beautiful jewel in the world. He had suffered so much to get her. He had broken his heart, and had nearly died several times trying to help her, and spilled more blood in her name than he cared to think of.

But he knew that it had all been worth it when he looked at her, hair shining gold in the candlelight, skin topaz, lips a garnet red, diamonds full of love glittering in her eyes.
