About Camus of Grust
It was said about Camus of Grust that he was the most able and talented warrior of his generation. A reincarnation of Grust´s folk's hero and their very own founder, General Ordwin. Blessed with a charisma and a terrible military brilliance, he was said to be the equal of Michalis of Medon.
Such a formidable foe, Gharnef knew too well, as he too believed himself to be a formidable foe. Because of this Camus became his key figure in his undertaking.
As long as Gharnef succeeds to control and shape their war hero, the land of Grust itself, and more important, their army, would be controlled and shaped by him as well. The fact that both Camus and Grust would wither in time was expected as it was desired.
The actually crucial was that Camus, in every aspect but of one, was indeed the idealistic outstanding soldier his people imaged. And the actually crucial was that Gharnef, in every aspect but of none, filled indeed the image of the feared and abhorrent black wizard his people imaged. Thus history was settled and tempted with fates seal. Gharnef overlapped any moral bounds, because he couldn´t be aware of them; his identity and soul being refreshing victims of the magic Imhulluh, guaranteeing the enraged and lost only in exchange with them absolute power. Not that it has left the broken man a choice. Not until then he could, without the distracting qualms and conscience, realize that Camus of Grust is nothing more than the talented knight, whose world´s his oyster. Not until then he draw the horrific simple conclusion that Camus was only born to serve and fight for his country and nothing more. Camus could conquer the whole world. Though he needed merely his nation´s order he swears undying loyalty to do so.
And Gharnef issued the orders.
It was said about Camus of Grust, that he was Medons greatest and only opponent worth of recognition. And Medon was Michalis. He knew this the moment his guilty hands were stained with his father's blood. He knew this the moment he betrayed his first sister´s sincerity with lies. And he knew this the moment his gaze failed to withstand the innocent one of his second sister. But the true rival of Camus chooses himself thereby to his rival, by sacrificing everything for the loyalty and love to his homeland. But because he destined himself to be his opponent, Michalis was destined to fall. Thus both men conquered and failed in the name of the Shadow Dragon; destiny never let it happen, that both men triumphed over him together.
It was said about Camus of Grust, that he would bear a magnificent live, his gleaming lance pointing Grust in a golden age. He was an ideal for the young prince, who shows him from far above, how far Marth's fate can rise. How far it has to rise. And before it all, the young prince learned how the plainest of knights could guide his dying country in a radiant future by giving him the only thing he has to give: His life.
Many things were said about Camus of Grust, but she stopped listening to know and love the true about him.
