There are usually two sides to every story: the bright, cheerful side which no one has a problem discussing, and the dark, ominous side, which people ignore. You may have found yourself near tears upon reading the wondrous tale of Isabella Swan, but her story is nothing to mine. You have yet to see the truth in things, as well as the darkness that dear Bella left out. I'm not afraid to show that darkness. I'm not afraid to talk about the dark side of my 'kind'. This is the terrible story of the life of a teen-age girl-Aubrey Uley.I glared at the woman standing before me. Despite her appearance, I could hardly give her that title. Monster would be more appropriate. To the human eye, she appeared to be kind, and possibly a bit motherly, but I could see past her little façade. I could see EXACTLY what she was, and it wouldn't be long before I showed the word what I saw.

PREFACE

The wind blew my hair violently across my face as I stood on the tall, rocky ledge of a cliff overlooking the serene waves of the ocean below. Anyone else would be taking the time to view the setting sun slowly sinking over the glittering calm waters of the Pacific. Such unearthly beauty could inspire awe even in a psychologically damaged individual, but I could not bring myself to gaze upon it.

I aimed my eyes at the woman standing before me. Despite her appearance, I could hardly call her a 'woman'. Monster would have sufficed. To the human eye, she appeared to be kind and possibly a bit motherly, but I could see past her little façade. I could see EXACTLY what she really was and it wouldn't be long before I showed the world exactly what I saw.

The woman's warm copper skin seemed to sparkle in the sun's fading light. "Why do you act so afraid? I'm not going to hurt you," she purred, her voice like liquid fire as she slowly moved towards me. Her words were soothing, but I'd learned that words can be deceiving. I slowly took a step back and immediately felt a rush of terror. It seemed as if my whole world was going to come to an end - not by the hands of the woman but by the crashing waves against the sharp rocks below. I was sure that if I took one more step, I would meet the fate of many an unlucky one - a fate that I would gladly take over being near this monster.

She bared her teeth at me with her now grinning lips. Her arms slowly began to rise from her sides until they extended out to me - beckoning me into her clutches. Something in my mind began to change, and I found myself questioning everything about this woman. Could I trust her? Would I be safe in her company? I debated the ideas, considering all of the possibilities I could think of. Maybe she was harmless. She had seemed dangerous, but now, something tugging at my mind told me otherwise.

I slowly took one step forward, parting from the edge of the cliff that would ensure my death, and stepped closer to the woman. My mind was fixated on her; however, one question bothered me. Was I going into safety, or was I walking into the very arms of Death itself?
