This came to me when I was watching TV; I just made it up as I went along

Disclaimer: I don't own it sadly! oh well.

Updated 17/4/11: wanted to edit some of the mistakes I made in the original version. Nothing has been added to the story, only corrections have been made.

Severus Snape...

Who is he?

Now that's a question!

Greasy git, bat of the dungeons, every Griffindor's worst nightmare, but not mine.

He's a hero, unloved and discredited Saviour of the Wizarding World. But I know the truth.

He seems emotionally challenged, some say he only knows hate. But they are oh so wrong. I know because I know him.

He's snarky and has a short fuse, but he is fiercely devoted to that which brings him true happiness. And those are few and far between because he likes to keep his feelings hidden, but not from me.

Not anymore, at least. It was difficult in the beginning, all fiery and bad tempered, stubborn like nothing normal. But then he accepted it. It's a good thing I'm far too stubborn as well. Slowly the walls started to come down only for the guard dog to rear its ugly head. But the thing about dogs is they all have a weakness and this one's bark was certainly worse than its bite. A squeaky toy and tummy rub didn't take long to appease it.

That's when he saw the benefits of letting someone in. It's not a matter of losing dignity but gaining happiness and contentment. It took him long enough!

But you wouldn't change it for the world. He's still snarky, and sometime a bat but never greasy now, unless he's spent too much time hovering over a cauldron. Even now that's not so often, he always seems to be hovering around me, especially this last month. Perhaps he's right, but it's not half irritating! But so is this persistent back ache that has gotten worse all of a sudden. Oh dear!

Merlin only knows how he will deal with this. Oh well, it will be an interesting learning curve to say the least.

27 hours later...

You would have thought he was in more pain than I was by the way he was acting!

I thought he would be good in a crisis, but then again, this doesn't happen to him every day. But he knew it was coming, it's a good thing that I was prepared.

So, back to the original question...

Who is Severus Snape?

Well, he's wonderful (but don't tell him, it will only go to his head!), he's dedicated, faithful, a constant part of my life.

Looking at him holding our newborn daughter in his arms, he's already wrapped around her little finger. There's a smile of contentment on his face and I have a feeling it will be there more often now.

Severus Snape is mine... and I'm his.

This is what we've been waiting for only we didn't know it. Life is going to be interest and it's only started!

This is my first Harry Potter fic. After reading so many other I decided to give it a go. Hope you like it! Any reviews would be appreciated so please tell me what you think!
