Compromise
It had been a busy few weeks which was good because it meant that Killian's sea tours were going well. But it was bad too because Emma was out to work while Killian was still asleep. Then he headed out on the evening cruises before she got home. So they weren't seeing each other an awful lot when they were both a wake.
She couldn't complain really because Killian always tried to meet her for lunch or at the very least a coffee break. They both took Sunday off but were too exhausted to do anything other than sleep or watch Netflix.
Everything was ticking along and they were both trying to find time together. It was only when Emma found herself jealous of Henry going sailing with Killian on his Saturday cruises that she realised it was a problem. It was not a good day when you were jealous of your son getting to spend time with your boyfriend.
Deciding the best thing to do was talk to Killian Emma organized with David to run things while she headed home on her coffee break. If she managed to time it right then he would still be in bed. She knew she wouldn't surprise him as he was an incredibly light sleeper.
After a number of years sleeping with one eye open in case someone snuck up on him, or the weather turned bad and the seas got rough she shouldn't be surprised. Sure enough Killian's eyes were open when she walked into their bedroom.
"Not that I'm not happy to see you Love, but what are you doing home from work?" His eyes searched hers. "Are you not well?"
"No, I'm not ill. It's just we're not getting to see much of each other at the moment." She wasn't sure how to word this without sounded clingy and jealous. "And I don't want to take time away from Henry when he goes sailing with you." She sat down on the bed, moving backwards so she was pinning his legs.
"Sunday really isn't enough is it?" He smiled up at her. He had been thinking the same thing. As much as he enjoyed spending time with Henry, he needed to be able to spend time with the boy's Mother when both of them were awake. It was rare that they could left the bedroom door open without the teenager rushing but then lately there was no reason to close and lock their bedroom door. When he was making it home after cleaning up his ship, Emma was always sound asleep. And while it was comforting how even in her sleep she shifted closer when he climbed into bed at night. He missed gazing into those beautiful jade eyes of hers.
"As much as I enjoy sleeping the day away with you on Sunday, I think we need to spend some awake time together." The problem was, she didn't know how they were going to do that.
"Do you think that you and your Father could arrange your shifts so that you both have two days off on different days? Then I can re-arrange the cruises so that I'm not out on the water on those days." It was a good plan and he knew it. Providing one of the two days was a week day, then he could still take Henry out with him on the Saturday cruises. The boy was becoming quite the sailor.
"I could do that. My Mother would probably enjoy some extra time with my Father as well." Emma was surprised she hadn't thought of this. It was a simple plan.
"Well then, everyone will be happy." He grinned at his Princess. "How long will your Father be expecting you to be gone?"
Emma suppressed the giggle that was threatening to escape when he wriggled his eyebrows at her. "How long do you need?"
Needless to say, they were both late getting to work.
