Full Summary:
Madeline Giselle Dupont is thrust into society in Revolutionary France by her parents in hopes that she will marry up. But Madeline is nothing of the social butterfly her parents wished her to be. Even hiddin in the shadows, she cannot help the attentions she receives, and soon falls into a life that would seem a dream to others, but is her living nightmare.
Meet the vampires before Twilight, before Carlisle in this whirlwind of drama, romance and tragedy.
Prologue
Death isn't peaceful. It isn't a transcendent experience and you don't come out of it feeling an overwhelming sense of rapture and completeness.
It's a ripping and tearing, it screams at you as it pulls the life from your lungs. It's a roaring that echoes through your hallow ears, managing to be deafening and silencing at the same time, and it's elicited so mercilessly that you can't help but try to scream back. But it's a mute scream that finds its way through your broken windpipe-no air left in you to supply it.
I awoke from that death in a body that looks and feels like my own, but isn't. It's mobile and functioning, but it's a hallow shell. My heart pounded in its vast cage as if jumpstarted. The result is 100 painful beats per minute, as if my body was trying to convince itself it was still alive. A reminder that I rode the line between the living and the dead, and don't fit in either category.
And then the fire reigns, raging it's way through my veins, scorching them into an unknown. The fire burned like there could be no tomorrow. But there would be. And one more. Then endlessness.
A/N: Okay, so that's just the prologue, the first actual chapter should be up in a few days at the most.
Let me tell you, it will be a while before vampires are introduced, don't get antsy. Sit back, enjoy the story. They might not appear until the sequel. Well, not in full blast anyway.
