Coming back home
I do not own Newsies in any way.
Jack was returning to New York at age 28 with his wife Elizabeth and daughter Taylor (6).
"Do you mind if we walk around?" Jack asked.
"Okay", Elizabeth said.
They walked until they came across a small café.
"This used to be…Tibby's", Jack said. Jack handed Taylor to Elizabeth and walked in.
"Sorry, we're not open yet", a young girl said.
"Who owns this café?" he asked.
"My mother", she said.
The girl looked around 14.
"Oh", Jack said, "I used to know the old owner. When I was a newsboy".
"And you are?" she asked.
"Jack Kelly", he said.
The girl's eyes became wide. "Mom!" the girl yelled.
"Sweetheart, what's…" the woman stopped when she saw Jack. "Jack?" she asked softly.
"I'm sorry…" Jack said.
"Don't tell you don't recognize me Jackie", she said.
"Felicity?" he asked. He ran and hugged his little sister. "I've missed you", he said.
They heard a crash.
"Dove è che pan!" a voice yelled from the back.
"Honey, it's in the top cabinet", Felicity said.
"Oh", the voice said.
A man with an olive complexion, sleek black hair, and brown eyes that sparkled with mischief came out of the back.
"Race?" Jack asked.
"Oh hey Jackie-boi", he said.
"You married Racetrack?" Jack asked.
"Name's Tony now", Race said.
"Frankie", Felicity said.
A little boy around 3 stumbled into the room.
"This is Frankie. Our son. I'm pregnant with our second child", Felicity said.
"Then who is…?" Jack asked.
"Oh, she's my step-sister. Our parents died a couple of years back, so I took her in", Tony said.
"Ciao. Di dove sei?" Frankie asked.
"English baby", Felicity said.
"Hello. Who are you?" Frankie asked.
"I'm your Uncle Jack", Jack said.
"It's your fault that he speaks so much Italian", Felicity told Tony.
"Excuse me for embracing my heritage", Tony said.
"You don't see me speaking Irish all the time", Felicity said.
"You do when Spot's around", he said.
"Spot still lives here?" Jack asked.
"Yep", Felicity said, "Although he went back to Ireland to marry his childhood sweetheart. They have a son. Sean Conlon ll".
"Do all the guys still come here?" Jack asked.
"Most of them", Felicity said, "The younger ones all left when the newsstands started going up. We don't know what happened to Skittery or Bumlets. Blink and Mush are regulars here. Mush is still single of course and Blink always brings his daughter with him. Her mom died giving birth to her. Such a shame. She was a nice girl".
"I need to get going. My wife and daughter are waiting for me", Jack said.
"Thanks for dropping by Jackie-boi", Tony said.
Felicity hugged Jack and said, "Come by more often".
"I will. It'll be nice to see all the guys again", he said.
"I'll hold you to that and bring David with you. He hardly ever stops by anymore", Felicity said.
"Bye little sister", Jack said leaving. Jack knew coming back home was a good idea.
"Dove è che pan!"-"Where is that pan?"
