Sometimes he watches her sleeping.

He used to despise the idea of that, thinking it's just downright creepy and sickening. But now when sleep just doesn't seem to come to him, and his eyes just seem to refuse to be closed, he would lie on his side and simply stare at her. He sees her chest rise and heave as she breathes, the way her lips move as she mumbles incoherent words in her sleep, he would even hear her light snore, and sometimes he sees her expression changes; sometimes she smiles, sometimes she even laughs. But he also has seen fear written across her beautiful face, and she would toss and turn in their bed, indicating she was having a bad dream.

He often wonders if he's the cause of her bad dreams.

He wonders if her nightmares consist of the memories of the time when he used, abused her both physically and mentally, and treated her very badly, a long time ago.

He would hug her tight and kiss her forehead when this happens. Then when she wakes up in the morning, he would ask her what it was that she dreamt about, and if it was him that terrified her in that dream. She would always reply, 'I wasn't terrified of you. I was terrified of losing you.'

He would tell her to get closer to him and wrap his arms around her, and whispers, 'I'm here. I'm not going anywhere.'

Then it hit him that she probably dreamt about the night they were trying to kill Klaus. It didn't end up well. They didn't succeed; instead they lost more of their loved ones. They were the only survivals, and to this day they are still on the run from the hybrid.

She snuggles closer to him and buries her face to his chest, bringing him back from his thoughts. He looks down at her angelic face, and silently thanks God. If it wasn't for her, he would have staked himself or did something stupid to get himself killed from the aftermath years ago. She was there for him, and she dealt with his shit when she was mourning herself. It took them almost ten years to get to where they are now. Ten years for him to finally realize how amazing she is; ten years until he finally apologize to her of what he had done to her years ago; ten years for them to find love in each other.

He brushes her rosy cheek gently, running his thumb over the smooth skin. She mumbles sleepily and blinks rapidly before she finally opens her eyes. Blue orbs greet him, and he stares right at them for a moment. He then thinks that even the sunlight that's creeping through the windows isn't even as bright as the light that they have.

She turns to her side to face him, and gives him a look. "Were you watching as I slept again last night?" He just shrugs and she rolls her eyes at that.

"That's creepy, you know. You got to stop doing that," she says as she snuggles even closer to him, and closes her eyes.

"I know," he replies, smiling as he watches her falling to sleep again.
