Hey. This is just a thought I had late last night. So "What if Esme came back to check on her daughter?" Set in New Moon.

Chapter 1

(Esme's Pov)

I had to. I just had to. I was going back to check on Bella, against Edward's wishes. I was on my way to the airport now, I had asked Carlisle to come with me but he said that he didn't want to interfere.

"Esme, no. I can't go, Edward said not to." I was getting angry now.

"Don't you miss her at all, Carlisle?!" I said frustrated.

"Oh course I do, Esme. You know I miss her to. But I just can't go back against his wishes. But promise me Esme that is you, or Bella, need me that you will call?"

"Yes, Carlisle I will."

(End Flashback)

I was now boarding my flight to Forks, my true home. Oh how I missed Bella. I remember how I felt that night when Edward told us we had to leave Bella, my daughter. I couldn't believe him.

(Flashback)

"What?! No we can't leave" I yelled angrily.

"Esme, we have to. You saw what happened tonight. What if it would have been worse? You know what could have happened." Edward answered calmly but you could hear the pain behind his voice.

I was angry with him how could I not be. But he was also my son and I could feel his pain like my own.

"I just hope your making the right choice. For the both of you." I whispered softly as I turned to walk up the stairs"

(End Flashback)

"We will be landing shortly. Please secure all carry on's" Said the voice over the intercom. Just a few more hours till I could check on Bella, maybe less if I drove fast.

When the plane landed I grabbed my purse and headed through the terminals to the parking lot. Once there I found a nice, sleek car. I felt bad about having to steel it but what other choose have I?

I made my way through the crowed parking lot onto the road headed to Forks. While I was driving I remembered the first time Edward had brought Bella to our home.

(Flashback)

I heard Edward and Bella walking up to the house. Carlisle and I walked over to the door and opened it just before Edward could. Oh my, she is beautiful. I saw Edward smile and nod at my thought.

"Carlisle, Esme" Edward's voice broke through the silence," this is Bella."

"You're very welcome, Bella." Carlisle's step was measured, careful and she stepped forward to shake hands whit him.

"It's nice to see you again, ."

Please, call me Carlisle."

"Carlisle" She grinned at him. Then Edward relaxed at the sight of Bella's confidence.

Then I stepped forward and took her hand from Carlisle's to shake.

"It's very nice to know you" I stated sincerely.

"Thank you. I'm glad to meet you, too." (page 322-323. Twilight)

(End Flashback)

I was so caught up in my own thoughts that I almost didn't notice the sign, "Welcome to Forks." I'm sure if my dead heart still beat it would be pounding right now. As I pulled into Bella's drive way I noticed that it was just her truck, good no Charlie.

I quickly parked Carlisle's car and pulled the key out of the ignition. I then took a deep breath, got out of the car and walked up the small path to the front door.

"Knock. Knock. Knock." I rasped on the door three quick times and then waited. I could her Bella making her way down the stairs, clumsily of course.

"Just a minute." Was Bella's short reply. Then she slowly opened the door.

"Esme?" She asked.
