heyy here have a late, short, random Halloween drabble~

"I can't believe we had to come in on Halloween," Ash muttered through a groan. He and Gary were together at the front desk of the local grocery store, idly waiting around for customers that clearly weren't going to come-the store was deader than a cemetery as it was.

"What's the big deal? It's not like you would have gone to any costume parties," Gary pointed out snarkily. "Only cool kids like me get invited to those."
Ash laughed. "What sixteen-year-old calls themself a 'cool kid' still?" Gary didn't retort. "And the parties aren't the point either, the trick-or-treating is, obviously."

Gary shook his head and sighed.

"What?"

"Ashy-boy, you're a little too old to be trick-or-treating."

"Pfffft," Ash scoffed. "How can you say that?"

Gary smirked. "Easily."

From the corner of his eye, Ash eyed their fellow employee walking down an aisle towards them, unknown to Gary.

"So you're saying you'd never go trick-or-treating?" Ash sneakily clarified.

Gary crossed his arms. "Never, not at this age. Too lame."

"What is?" Leaf arrived at the front desk, propping up a broom against it. She stretched her arms out in front of her. "Ugh, tonight is a stupid night to work on."
Gary ran a hand through his spikey hair in attempt to smooth it out a bit and grinned crookedly. "Nothing much, just talking about how lame it is for teenagers to go trick-or-treating-"

Leaf's jaw dropped as she dramatically laid a hand over her chest.

Ash exchanged a smug glance with Gary's confused one.

"Y-You, uh, still go trick-or-treating, Leafy?" Gary asked.

Leaf folded her arms. "Bitch I might."

Ash hardly suppressed a chuckle.

"I was gonna see if i could get off my shift early and get someone to go with me, too, but since you think it's so lame-"

"What? Me? No. Never," Gary scoffed. "Trick-or-treating is the coolest. All of the cool kids go trick-or-treating, like myself, for example."

Ash shook his head in dismay. "That's a sudden change of opinion, G-"

"Shhhh, shhhhhhh, Ash. You're not thinking clearly, probably had too much candy," Gary interrupted. "Anyway, you mind covering for us? We have some trick-or-treating to do."

"Wha-" Ash whined. "But I was the one who actually wanted to-"

Gary leaned in closer to his raven-haired friend and muttered, "I'll give you all the candy I snag." Ash pouted slightly, but eventually nodded in agreement. "Thanks man, I owe you one!" he said gratefully, walking out from behind the counter to stand beside Leaf.

You owe me a heck-ton of candy, that's what, Ash thought to himself.

"Come on, let's go~" Leaf chirped.

"Wait, where first?" Gary questioned.

"We're getting costumes, duh," she answered with a grin, linking arms and dragging him off in some direction. "Can't go trick-or-treating without them."

"Uhh...right." Gary gulped, preparing himself to lose most of his "cool points" because of this rendezvous. Worth it, he decided with a smile.

-whispers- I used a lame program to type this so hopefully the formatting came out okay... And yeah it's short but it's a drabble it's supposed to be. (*~▽~)
