Eternal Dreams
A Riku x Sora Fan Fiction
Chapter One: The Guy From The Dreams
Riku POV
7,580 Words
So I have been quite lazy after starting this chapter almost a year ago and I only recently got back around to finishing it. This being my first proper story, I am pleased that I finally have some content, other than just a short eighty word or so long preview.
It came a bit shorter in length than I was hoping for so might come back to it later and add a few extra words or so and/or to correct any parts that don't seem quite right, which is probably a habit that will stick for other chapters too.
Anyways here it is:
"What are you doing here alone?" a familiar voice spoke in a hushed tone. "Don't you want to spend some time with me?" The voice continued as it came closer.
I thought to myself don't stop…
"I got you a present; I'll be upstairs when you're ready!" The voice explained as he hurried out the last few words, before rushing up the stairs and into my bedroom, he didn't even bother taking his big and stumpy shoes off.
I wanted to follow him but I knew that I had to wait until he was ready, besides it's not like that I could control myself.
I wondered into the kitchen and grabbed a small juice. But never mind that, it wasn't long before I was running up the stairs and swung open my bedroom door.
I couldn't wait to see what the cute brunette had in store for me, as my eyes adjusted to the dramatic mood lighting; I started hearing voices in the back of my head.
It couldn't leave me hanging like this, could it?
Everything tuned dark, I didn't get to see what I was about to see? Typical…
The dreams could predict the future; I just had to believe that, someday it might just work out for the both of us. But until that day, I must not lose hope.
It seemed that my mind had been drifting off in a very long and tedious computing class during one of those moments when the conversations just come to a hold. I Suddenly realised how close I was to the guy I had recently been dreaming about, glancing down towards the end of the row to my right, my eyes finally coming in contact with him, Sora Keydom.
I had been having feelings for him ever since the first dream, I couldn't think of why he hadn't crossed my mind before, he would just make the perfect boyfriend.
It was the last school day until the Christmas holiday and even less time until I could get to start the three week break away from seeing him and hopefully i could move on. But until then I must make sure that I was ready to forget about all this. But after having the whole of last week off - being sick, all I could think about was seeing Sora again. How elegantly and swiftly he types away and…
"Riku!" The Voice disturbs me from my thoughts.
God Damn it - "What is it Hayner?"
"Oh sorry I just thought you were away with the fairies" He responded.
What? "Faeces?" What the hell on earth is he on about, I lift my head up from the desk to gain a better level of hearing.
Hayner gave a assuring laugh
"Fairies Riku, not faeces." He raised his hand up slightly before continuing, "But if your 'Away with the Faeces', then don't come by me until you've given yourself a good scrub" Hayner laughed some more, is this guy for real.
"Oh sorry" I began to say "Was there something you wanted to talk to me about?"
"Well I was going to ask if you saw Josh anywhere today. Pence, Olette and I haven't seen him since yesterday; he's not usually one to be absent." Hayner glances down at the empty chair in-between the two of us where Josh would usually be sitting, normally in some deep conversation with Hayner about Guitars or Amps and that kind of thing.
Why ask me, it's not like I hang around with him or anything and stuff, can't he just leave me be. "No, I thought you would know better than me anyways." Now no more questions, just shush.
Hayner let out a brief sigh before swivelling back around to face his computer.
That's it now I can just lie back down and just secretly look across at…
"Riku! What have I told you about falling asleep in class?" Miss Yuffie yells out from across the room
"You should be using your time more effectively…" She Rambles On.
What is her problem, she's not even our proper teacher after all, and just a supply until Leon comes back from his… wait what did he leave to do again?
Anyways none of that is important right now, I don't have to lie down to see Sora's…
RINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!
What the… but it was only… And these double lessons are not exactly common either. And then I get Hayner laughing at my confusion, in times like these. But oh well you can have too much of a good thing, right?
I begin to get ready to move on to my next lesson of the day, Maths, again. Oh how i get to hear more maths jokes such as: Where do pirate mathematicians live?
In The Seas (Indices).
Yes that sort of thing actually happens. But In the end it will just be going over some same old topic that we have already been over a million times before.
The first maths lesson earlier this morning was just that, most of this morning actually has been rather boring, well, so far anyways.
Walking towards the door I feel a small object bounce on my back, I turn around to see Seifer standing there chuckling with that grin of his. Like what does he even want with me? I decide it's best to just to carry on as quickly as I can to maths. But of course Seifer isn't having any of it and is soon following me on the way, mumbling something into my earhole, why does he always have to be such a nuisance.
Seifer had a bad reputation at school, so that he probably thought that he had to amuse himself somehow.
After being rammed up the stairs in shear hurry of the people who seem to hate school the most - yes, I don't understand that. I was finally separated from Seifer and was able finish the rest of the journey in peace, or so I thought as I had seemed to completely forget that Sora, whilst not in my maths class, he still had it in a room near mine, whenever I had it.
He startled me as was turning round to check that Seifer hadn't followed me, I noticed him shortly behind me, plodding up the stairs. I suddenly, (maybe to sudden) turned around, so quick that it made me feel nauseous, my vision turned cloudy and I had to hold on to the banister to prevent me from falling over.
I stood there for a few moments to regain my lost consciousness, as my vision cleared I was greeted with a pair of eyes.
"Hey Riku, wakey wakey" he spoke to me in his usually perky tone.
"Oh geez, you don't look too good." He continued, his voice fading a bit in the process.
I'm much better now thanks to you…
"Riku!" He shouted in a concerned quail at what must have been the top of his voice, which disturbed me from my daydream.
"I'm fine" was all I could manage to say as I forced a smile to form on my face. My hand drifted itself towards him, but I managed to keep it firmly located on to the banister – shortly after noticing that it may have been best to let it act incase Sora figured out of my attraction to him, but I guess that would have depended on where on Sora's body my hand would have drifted off to.
Sora moved towards the side as to let me pass him; I could feel like he was watching me all the way up until I reached the other side of the classroom door.
As I arrive back in maths, I am greeted with yet another supply teacher; I'm starting to get curious of why so many teachers have been off recently, especially since the teacher in question was here earlier. I take my seat, and prepare myself on what is to come. Not that I am worried or anything, I just need to be prepared for a long a tedious lesson.
"Hey Riku!" Naminé ran towards me and gave me a tight hug.
"I-" I could barely manage to remain standing after the impact she gave me.
"Aww come on' don't ignore me, Riku!"
"C- Can't, B- breathe" I manage to spurt out as I struggle within Naminé's tight grasp.
"Oh, I'm so sorry… Riku" Naminé's face begins to blush a deep red. Her so called friends (who she ran off from) began laughing to the less amused blonde.
Being the second maths lesson of the day, I couldn't recall seeing Naminé in the first.
"Hey Naminé, where were you earlier?" I managed to say whilst still partially out of breath.
"I was at the dentist like I said on Tuesday, you really are forgetful sometimes Riku."
"Yeah I know, you don't have to remind me." I slurred out, as I gazed up from my book.
"Aww c'mon Riku did you miss me earlier?" She thought, squealing into my ear.
"No, we were just confused because you never miss a lesson"
Next it was Naminé's turn to look confused looked "who's 'we' Riku"?
It took me a second to realise what just happened "Oh sorry I meant to say 'I'." I got a chill up the back of my spine as it seemed like Naminé was reading my mind or something.
"It's okay Riku; you'll find someone someday" she stated "or maybe you already have!" she perked up towards the end of her sentence before swivelling around and heading back towards her table. She's talking about herself right, or does she know that I like Sora?
As Naminé arrived back at her table she received a hi-five from her friends Xion and Olette, who had took their seat as Naminé had been talking to me.
I was about to final make a start with my work, when I noticed a conversation rise with some shady figure as he/she approached Naminé, but it was Naminé's squealing voice that caught my attention.
"Why don't you pick on someone your own size?" She squirmed out whilst trying to wriggle free from under the figures grasp.
"What do you even want?" Olette demanded as she and Xion tried to set Naminé free.
The cloaked figure lifted its head up slightly before bellowing down upon the trio.
"Why don't you tell Riku what you truly think about him, I'm sure that he would be delighted to hear what you have to say?"
"I don't know what you're talking about!" Naminé further squealed as its hand tightened its grip.
I could feel my stomach twist inside, turning into many elaborate knots, which caused me to feel quite nauseous. I managed to distract myself from the illusion, taking a look at the supply teacher, I could see that she was completely oblivious to the situation, being completed drowned out by her earphones and engulfed in her puzzle book.
"She can do what she wants to, what business is it of yours?" Xion perked up.
The cloaked figure looked like it was about to say something as it opened its mouth, but then closed it again, just as it let go of Naminé.
Just as I was about to approach the group, there was a loud wiring sound as a cloud of smoke appeared around the figure. It caught Naminé in the drift and attempted to take her with itself. The figure made a loud screeching which made my skin crawl in a vigorous manner that paralysed me in my seat.
But the figure lost its concentration and had to go without as the supply teacher perked her head upwards.
This left Naminé face down on the floor, as she got up her eyes locked with the teacher.
"What are you doing down there" The supply bellowed and she stared into Naminé's soul.
"Oh clumsy me" She explained as she dusted herself down.
The supply rolled her cracked eyed back into the depths of her skull, before regluing her eyes back to her book.
Eventually it was lunch and I could finally spend some time with my friends, and soon I was doing just that.
"So that is when I told him…Riku?" Aqua was rambling on about her boyfriend Terra as usual whenever he was not present, and in turn I found myself half asleep slouched back on the lumpy rock wall.
"We have both heard all this before, you must be boring him to death" Riku replied in my place.
Aqua, who's must have dated half of the guys in this school and probably many others in-between and Demyx who had like one relationship in his entire life, and most of that was across a summer holiday and completely apart from one another.
Aqua's face showed a slight sign of hurt as she sat up into a straighter pose and leaned against the pillar behind her. "Oh but he's just the best thing since…" Aqua tried to reason with the mullet blonde.
"Since you're broke up with your last boyfriend, we have heard it all before." Demyx interrupted.
However this did not stop Aqua from shoving any news of her and Terra right down our throats.
"But I…" She tried to say before being once again interrupted.
"Enough." Demyx was probably hoping for me to jump in to the conversation to change the subject by now, but I left him to it, as I kind of found this quite interesting to listen to.
"He's just so…" She wouldn't quit.
"We know let's just leave it at that." Demyx tried again.
Wait is that…
"But I love him." Aqua admitted
"Love you too." Came the voice of the guy that I'm sure that only I could see, was standing behind Aqua for the last few minutes.
"Terra!" Aqua flung upwards nearly flopping back down from the unnecessary haste of her determined actions. She gave him a snuggly hug, before pulling him down so that both of them were sandwiched in an awkward position between Demyx, (squishing him against the wall) and half on top of me.
By this point my head had got carried away in the constant conversations, If only that was me and Sora doing those things…
Far too long of our lunch seemed to be filled with Aqua and Terra action or 'Aqteon' as I suggested about a month ago when this happened last, which Demyx hastily agreed that it was a good term to use.
"Hey cheer up you too, you'll never find girls of your own if you keep looking that glumly all the time" Aqua emphasised her point as her words seamed to fly right out her ears and into mine as they were nearly touching with each other.
Well it's not quite that simple…
"Maybe we could if we could have a chance to breath once in a while" Demyx tried to explain as he was squished between a rock and a hard place.
Aqua had a confused look on her face as her eyes traveled back and forth between Terra and Demyx.
"I think you're suffocating him babe" Terra said as Aqua got caught is him gaze.
"Oh, heheh." Aqua tried to laugh it off before moving her leg which was pressed right up against Demyx and moved it inside the space in-between Terra's legs.
"Finally" Demyx tried to say before gasping for air.
As you may have realised my friends or anyone else to be exact do not know about my attraction to other guys and especially not to Sora.
Just then I hear someone else approaching with loud clumping sounds coming up the stairs, it must be, I think... , oh it's just Seifer. He docent usually make a lot of noise whilst coming down the stairs, it must just be my imagination that I thought he was Sora. How the two of them are so different. One cheerful and enthusiastic the other annoying and rebellious, I shouldn't have to explain which one is which.
Aqua and Demyx soon notice Seifer's presence and greet him, but why I don't know. Seifer seems to greet them back before carrying on up the next flight of stairs. He would usually stop by longer if Terra was not here.
"Am I really that scary?" Terra quotes as he shuffles into a more comfortable position.
As Lunch came to an end, I realised that I had one more lesson left before the end of the week. But this wasn't any old lesson, but it was science. Yes I know what you are thinking: 'what's so special about science?' Well it's not just science, its science with Sora - One of only three lessons that I'm with him, three might seem like quite a few, but it seems so little. I guess Sora's kind of little, Little Sora.
Being the first person to arrive is always fun -insert sarcasm joke here-. Let's me, you know, do stuff, unwind I guess.
After just a few moments I noticed Josh slouching up on the side of the stairs, after he reached the top he came over to me and slid down the wall so he was sitting on the floor, eyes pointing downwards, staring at the dusty floor, that I swear that the only reason for all of the hard floors is so that the school doesn't need to hire as many cleaners.
"Where were you earlier?" I asked him, kind of regretting that I opened with such a question. He lifted his head up and gave me a confused and quite a stern look.
"What are you talking about Riku? I've been here all day, heck I was even sitting in-between you and Hayner in computing." He quarrelled out in a partially slurred mumble, that he said just as quickly as he sprung up out of his slumber and made his way inside the classroom.
I found it strange the way he just acted, however I guess in one of those times I had my head on the desk, I could have easily imagined him missing. But I thought no more of it and shortly followed him inside the classroom, already feeling the presence of Dr. P drawing me in.
As I was soon inside, I was suddenly greeted by the large, piercing eyes of Dr. P, they followed me all the way inside until I was fully seated, before snapping back in to a central position as he welcomed the class.
"Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, today we are going to be spending the first half of the lesson going over your mock papers from last week." He moved to the edge of the room where a stack of papers were stacked up next to the window.
"Some of you have done very well." He stated as he handed out the papers. He then came to me,
"Others, not so much".
I guess that explains why he was staring me out I guess, but I don't understand, I didn't do well? I began looking over my paper just as Dr. P had reemerged to the front.
"So get your red pens poised, and make your amendments."
The door burst open, startling Dr. P in the process, from the other side appeared Sora and Tidus.
"That is the third time you two have been late to my lesson this week, see me after class." Barked Dr. P, before he strutted back to his desk to rearrange his stuff.
Not that I would have known much about that though, since I spent most of that time watching Sora whilst he wasn't looking until he plumped down into his seat. His smile doesn't fade one bit…
Sora's seat in this lesson was right in front of mine, so I could get away with looking at him to an extent, Tidus used to be sitting next to him until he was recently moved to the next seat along due to Dr. P's stupid boy/girl seating arrangement, which while it did succeed to make the pair less talkative in class, they have been arriving later to class than before, which made me believe that they had a lot to talk about together.
Looking through my paper, I noticed that, well it seemed as if Dr. P here who is far too busy messing around with his toolbox - which he happens to keep his stationary in, has not bothered to mark half of the questions, the lazy fucker.
I eyed over to him and he gave me a reassuring look of disappointment. I wasn't one for reasoning with him neither was in the mood to, so I decided to just go with the flow, not helping that I was annoyed at him, for his inconsiderate effort.
The amendments ended up lasting almost the whole lesson like usual, which left little time for much else, so Dr. P ended up just giving us another past paper to do for over the weekend. Sora and Tidus were spending detention with him, which I noticed they didn't mind at all, so I guess that whatever made them late for class was worth it. It wasn't long before the two friends run past me, almost knocking me over, as they chuckled past me.
"Careful, you almost knocked Riku over." Tidus mentioned to the brunet. A deep blush grew on Sora's face as he scratched the back of his head.
It felt like I was blushing to but it was probably just my imagination.
"Hey, you did too!" Sora barked out as he pouted his mouth towards me and Tidus, Tidus looking surprised. There was a brief moment of silence before the pointy continued.
"Oh sorry Riku" He slurred out in that cute voice of his, I'm sure that I must too have had a blush on my face which was at least as strong as Sora's.
"It's fine really…" I managed to say, whilst somehow managing to keep consciousness.
"C'mon Sora, we don't want to keep Roxas and Kairi waiting any longer then they have already." Tidus stated before running off in front.
Sora looked back at me and then opened his mouth and then closed it again, like he was going to say something. That action seamed familiar to me, like I had seen it before or something, but I couldn't remember where or who. His head locked sharply downwards briefly before he started to chuckle again and chased after Tidus.
"Hey slow down, Tidus!" Sora was struggling to keep up with Tidus
I smile perked upon my face as I watched the pair chasing each other in front of me, it made me happy that Sora was having fun. But then I could feel my stomach rewrapping itself back into knots as I wasn't a part of the action, I wish that I was in Tidus position, I was jealous…
I had to force my eyes to loose attention from them, whenever one of them would be looking backwards towards me.
Stumbling up the steps at the opening of the bus I managed to scoop out my bus munny from my coat pocket and passed it along to the driver. I made my way down the aisle and plumped into a seat. Checking my phone I noticed a message from Axel, I had to check twice since it's been years since we have talked to each other properly. My eyes widened as I read his message.
"Hey Riku, I was wondering if you would like to meet up some time, I have something to tell you"
I blinked several more times before replying.
"Hey Axel, what is it? Can't you tell me now?"
I lifted my phone away from my face and rested my eyes, looking out of the window I wondered what all of the fuss was about.
I saw Sora, Roxas, Tidus and Kairi as they formed together into their group, the brother and the female looking disappointed but not surprised at the brunette and the jocks late arrival. My eyes moved back inside the bus as it wasn't long before Axel sent another message.
"Not now Riku, it's important. I'll tell you tomorrow."
My pupils almost exploded from reading his reasoning. I released many deep breaths and let out a sigh before replying.
"If it's so important then why don't you tell me now?" I replied as the bus finally started moving.
Geez he can be just like Hayner sometimes…
"It's too complicated to talk about it over the phone and I am busy tonight, I'll come around tomorrow okay"
I decided to give in.
"Fine Axel, I'll see you tomorrow"
I finished replying just before I reached my stop, I slid my phone back into my pocket and made my way off of the bus, squeezing myself though the tight gap and crouching so that I didn't hit my head on the buses low celling.
As I just got off of the bus I found myself dazing off in my thoughts about when I was with Sora earlier; how elegantly and swiftly he types away, his smile that never fades and when he was with Tidus. Overall it was a good day for Sora, which I was glad for.
I was so spaced out that I ended up face palming myself into the front door. My eyes flinched as I adjusted myself back into reality. I fumbled my numb fingers into my pocket and retrieved my key; wriggling it about in the lock, I traversed inside.
Both of my parents were at work, so I had the whole house to myself for an hour or so, (except the dog) and absolutely nothing to do with the time, I ended up rechecking my messages of which I had none, so I ended up drowning myself out with some tunes until I had something better to do with my time.
I was surprised to see my phone glowing to alert of a message that I had received, leaning over the armchair to reach it, I noticed it was from Naminé. My mind recalled back to when Naminé almost got abducted by that creature earlier, thinking it was related to that, I checked it only to find it was just a simple:
"Hey, Riku!"
Well I guess that she is in a good mood despite almost being abducted, but I decided to check anyways just in case.
"Hey Naminé, are you okay since earlier?"
It wasn't long before I got a response from her.
"What are you talking about Riku?"
First Josh, now Naminé? I am seeing these things right or is it just me? I hurried my brain to work overload to think of an excuse to respond to Naminé with, before remembering where Naminé had been earlier today.
"At the doctors"
I took a stretch and relaxed myself as nothing was in urgency anymore, casually and probably smugly if I could see my face, I reached over to check on the reply from Naminé that I had received.
"Dentist, Riku!"
Damn it, I felt embarrassed as I looked over her double response,
"So anyway, I think it's only fair that you get to know who I like"
I felt confused, and responded with:
"And why's that?"
I was glad that we was having this conversation over the phone since I thought that my response could have sounded quite romantic in person, which is completely not what I want with Naminé, were just friends that's all.
"You'll have to wait and see, I'll tell you on tomorrow!"
Great now I have two things to be told to me tomorrow, one from Axel and now one from Naminé too, maybe there're connected somehow.
I ended up taking a visit to the park, after deciding that it felt quite appealing to be back outside in the fresh air.
Passing through the marketplace I was greeted with all the people who were busy gathering around to shop in all the variety of stores and stalls that fill the high-street.
This is the busiest time for shoppers, to get around. People would barge by each other to get around. The crowd is so great at this time that many of the stall increase prices or even close altogether as a failure to cope with all the added tension.
The fruit and veg stall always grabs much attention for its wide array of colourful delicacies and the middle aged man behind the counter tempting all the customers with his loud bellowing voice and great offers. His stall must have hundreds of types of fruit which are all sorted by colour; with the reds next to the counter and the blues and purples all the way at the other side, boarding the next stall.
Amongst the many visitors of his stall was Peggy. She was a short old woman who always stops by in the fruit and veg stall to get her weekly groceries after having a shot at the markets bingo hall. She has long wave grey hair covered by a light brown straw hat with a red ribbon raped around. Her walking stick was a long chunk of pine wood with a thin white piece of string weaved in and out through the evenly spaced drill holes placed throughout the stick. No one knew Peggy's last name. People asked, but she never told them.
On the other side of the market lies the card stall, where there is many different type of card for every occasion. The smell from the card stall smelled all fresh since the cards had all been printed that afternoon. There was also many different shapes and sizes of cards to suit all budgets and preferences, where the smallest cards were on the lower shelves where the stalls owners dog would nibble the corners of the cards when we was not looking whilst the higher cards tend to get picked and pinched by birds that have come to the market, from all the commotion.
The vendor of the fishmongers was the most sociable in the whole of the market, he is always shouting out offers, and bragging on how cheap his fish another pieces of seafood are. The 'fish of the day' which is at least half the price of what he usually sells it for, always grabs the most sales of that day. Most of the fish is laid out diagonally in a large tray of ice is constantly being chilled from underneath the counter. These fish are all showing one eye which people say it looks like they are all watching you at the same time, as you try to decide which one you want.
Next door is the butcher stall with his generous collection of continental meats from around the world. Most of these would stink the whole market out with their over powering smells, even more then the cheese stall, at the other side of the market. People have complained that the smell was too strong, so the owner of the stall has been forced to move into a more covered location.
However the most popular stalls for the market were the many food stalls for the market. The servers with their aprons and gloves, all covered in the sugar from the doughnuts. The queues could seem to stretch for miles at the most busiest times. But the people in line knew that it would be worth the wait in order to get all the doughnuts and candyfloss that they could fit in their mouths at once.
Upon arriving at the park, I was surprised to see a lot of people there, ever though it was a cold late December afternoon. It was hard to see who actually was there though, due to everyone moving around rapidly, trying to keep warm. Well, that was that one familiar face that caught my eye – Sora.
I could feel myself warm after the unexpected appearance of the brunette, since I've never saw him here before. After a few moments of inspection I noticed he was still with Tidus, as well as his other friend Kairi, and his brother Roxas.
I almost cracked up when Roxas had sneaked up behind me and mumbled something into my ear.
"What was that, Roxas?" I calmly said to him, I looked puzzled at him as he placed his hands onto my shoulders.
"What are you do…" was all I could say before he pushed me firmly forward, I stumbled as I landed half crouched over facing directly in front of Sora, who was sitting down on one of the park benches in-between Tidus and Kairi.
Sora popped his eyes wide open as his ice-lolly remained held in his mouth.
"Oh look whose back" Tidus perked up as he uncrossed his legs and put his hands them.
"I was just passing through" I explained, feeling that my answer sounded quite unconvincing in the process.
It was then that Roxas took a rewrapping around my neck and blurted out.
"Nonsense, any friend of Sora's is welcome here, you'll stay won't you?" he grinned as he turned to face me.
As I was about to reply, some strange moaning noise made all of us turn to face its source. It turned out that the Ice-lolly that Sora had had frozen to the inside of his mouth, whilst the pointer was loosely tugging on the stick, trying to set it free.
His mumbling sounded kind of like I'm not his friend; he's just in some of my classes.
Kairi was the first to react, as she took a grasp of the stick, bringing Sora to a halt.
"You see Sora this is why you don't eat cold things when it's practically winter.
Sora gave Kairi a pout, as she tried to get her hands off of him. In the distraction, Tidus found a good opportunity to make a firm hold around the stick. Sora and Kairi took a gaze at him as he tried not to look smug.
"Sorry Sora, but it's the only way" he said as he prepared himself to make the manoeuvre.
Sora tried to say something but it had no effect as Tidus pulled hard on the stick to release it from Sora mouth.
"Ah" Sora made a large range of painful sounding noises, which made me clench up as I could feel myself getting quite pissed off with Tidus, but I mostly felt sorry for Sora.
Tidus fell backwards as he released the stick from Sora. He looked for once like he had completed something, until the point where he looked into his hand to see what he had retrieved from the brunette.
"Tidus you idiot, the ice-lolly is still inside Sora!" Kairi emphasised as she store down at the floor where Tidus was now lying. "C'mon Sora, let's get this done properly" she explained as her voice soften as she turned back around Sora and rose up from the bench. Sora looked towards the others and finally towards me before getting up himself. He looked back towards me once more before walking off towards the buildings with Kairi.
Tidus got back up, brushed himself off and sat back onto his position on the bench. The other side of the bench – where Kairi was sitting was then soon occupied by Roxas, who patted me on the back before sitting down on the opposite side of the bench to where Tidus had. The pair both simultaneously looked at me and then moved their eyes in sync toward the space between them.
I let myself drift towards the centre of the bench and sat in-between the two, right where Sora had recently been sitting.
"Don't worry Riku, we don't bite" Roxas said to me as he glanced over towards Tidus who nodded in assurance.
I didn't know much about Sora's brother Roxas, but it seemed as though it would probably be easier if I was attracted to him instead. But even though that Sora would be harder to get to, it would be better in the end, since it was him who I loved, and not Roxas.
I didn't talk much to the pair and I spent most of the time either trying to get to grips with what they was talking about or I was spacing out about Sora. But one time that did grab my attention was when Axel name was mentioned.
"So Roxas how's Axel?" Tidus quirked out as he lent across me towards the spikey blond.
"Fine I guess, although why are you talking to me, Riku here is more of a friend to him then I am" he explained as he directed towards me.
Tidus looked out towards the rest of the park and then lent back into a more slouched seating position than to what he would usually have.
"Right, because you're not exactly his friend are you" he mumbled under his breath before returning his facial expression back to its usual style.
Roxas perked up, but almost without moving and question the other.
"What was that?" He spoke whilst further remaining his position.
"Oh nothing, so Riku, I didn't knew you knew the blond here's friend." Tidus asked me, trying to change the subject. I saw Roxas roll his eyes from the corner of my vision.
"Yeah, I've known him for several years, but I've not seen so much of him recently" I explained to him, trying not to say too much or too little.
"That makes sense." he responded as he took a reflective look back to Roxas, who seemed to be getting quite annoyed with Tidus.
"I don't understand, whatever you think is going on between me and Axel, I can assure you that it's not true!" Roxas throated out at Tidus, his head seamed to inflate as he progressed, deflating and out of breath by the time he was done.
"Right" was all Tidus could reply with before Roxas had another outburst.
"Right is that all you can say, whatever you know is all rumours."
"It's my own inspection Roxas, not rumours." Tidus tried to explain to the blond, but Roxas wasn't having any of it and decided to ignore him.
Tidus looked half guilty for what he had just done and scratched the back of his head.
"Look, I'd love to explain it right now, but my mums making shepherd's pie lasagna tonight, and I really like shepherd's pie lasagna, I got to go." He hurried out, as he got up off of the bench and strode off away to his home.
Being left alone with Roxas, I noticed that he was yet to calm down fully and he looked like he had a lot on his mind. I thought it was best not to trouble the blond since I could probably understand the situation better after talking to Axel tomorrow, besides it was then when Sora and Kairi came back, running in from the opposite side of the park that Tidus left from.
"We're back, did you miss us?" Kairi almost seemed to be begging us to respond. She glanced across to the empty seat.
"Where's Tidus?" She questioned as she looked back over to the pair of us.
Sora was half looking at the floor as he stood next to her. Whilst Roxas had crossed his arms and tried not to pay any attention to the scene.
"He had to somewhere, he didn't say where" I spoke up as I was the only person left to answer.
"Typical…" Kairi emphasised as she sat right on the edge of the bench.
It took Sora a while before he realised that his friend was missing, his face looked confused as he was left standing in front of the three of us.
"C'mon Sora, there's enough room on this bench for the four of us" she explained as she patted on the empty space that she left in-between me and herself.
"Right sure…" Sora responded whilst still looking kind of unsure.
My body tensed up as Sora came closer and he wedged himself in the tight gap that left the four of us all tightly packed together on the bench. He continued to fidget whilst sitting next to me, which only I seemed to notice which made me feel even more unsettled.
After a short period of silence Kairi took a glance over to the opposite edge of the bench and noticed that Roxas was still in the same grumpy position that he was in when she arrived.
"Hey, cheer up grumpy" She spoke to him as she tried to lighten the mood.
"It's nothing, you don't understand" He mumbled downward in just enough decibels for the rest of us to hear clearly.
Kairi looked as if she was about to reply when Sora ruffled around in the middle.
"So Riku, so what did I miss?" he slurred out, rolling each word into the next.
Is this real, Sora's really talking to me? Okay, calm down Riku just act natural. Sora turned his face partially in my direction waiting for a response.
"Roxas and Tidus did most of the talking; I mostly had no clue what they were on about." I felt like I needed to release a huge breath after saying that, but I managed to release it slowly so that I didn't draw to much attention to myself.
"Oh I feel sorry for you to have to listen to that, there always go on and on about things, like there…" Sora looked puzzled as he struggled to remember a certain word."
Roxas snicker and raised his head upwards.
"Rambling Sora" he spoke up, reshowing interest into the conversation.
"Oh right yeah that" Sora spurted out and pointed his finger upwards.
Kairi cocked her head to one side and moved it forwards slightly.
"You know, I don't really see, I can completely understand them usually" She spoke to the pair of us.
"Yeah, only because you keep on eavesdropping all of the time" Roxas lightly snapped back at her.
We all sat on that bench for several hours, just socialising about many things, until something seamed to grow on Kairi's mind.
Kairi rolled her eyes and turned to face me.
"Hey Riku, you know Naminé right?"
"Yeah" I responded to her, not wanting to go too deeply about what happened earlier, just in case it was just me who saw what happened.
"Well we used to talk a lot in art class, but now she seams nervous and she sits a bit further away from me than she used to..." Sora tried to stop her from rambling too much by covering his ears.
"Don't worry about it, it just seems to me that she just has a lot on her mind right now, that's all" I replied, trying not to go into too many details, whilst still trying to keep Kairi calm.
"See, we told you that its nothing about you, some girls just need their space every once in a while." Roxas explained to her whilst giving her a knowing look.
It got dark quickly, due to the early nights that occur at this time of year, so it wasn't that much longer before we parted ways from each other, and by parted ways I mean heading in the opposite direction to everyone else since I live nowhere near anyone from school but still close enough to attend there on time.
"So, we'll see you tomorrow then Riku" Kairi questioned me as she got ready to go along with Sora and Roxas.
I decided to go along with it; since I had nothing else planed and also would probably just spend the whole day stuck at home otherwise.
"Yeah, sure" I said as Sora and Roxas waved to me, Sora's of course was more wild and vigorous than that of the blond.
"Later Riku" Roxas spoke up as he smiled slightly, as he headed off shortly after Kairi.
Sora took a few more moments than the other two to turn around; he jogged slightly to catch up, before he swung in-between the pair, holding onto their shoulders for support.
"Oh, lighten up you two, we can hang around again tomorrow," Sora tried to explain and lift the situation on the trio. "And the same for the next several weeks as we have no school until way into January, it's almost Christmas, c'mon" I heard from the brunette before they were too far away to hear.
I looked at them for a while before turning back as I headed towards home, just in case one of them would look back or something. I'm seeing them tomorrow again after all.
