I know you don't love me but I know I love you.
You violet eyes never connect with my blue
You laugh with your friends, not a care in the world
I sit back to watch and my heart unfurls
Maybe you'd love me if I had the guts to speak
Maybe you'd love me if I turned the other cheek
Toward my friends and the words they say
Those grotesque words that keep me away
"Hes a guy."
"Hes not your type"
"You two couldn't be less alike"
But either way my heart still flutters
When the wind makes you shudder
Or when you give a soft kind smile
Or when I jump because I've been staring for a while
I've been thinking of the right words to say
The best way to woo a heart from astray
How to put a northern star in the sky
To get the one I love to catch my eye
I practiced my lines a thousand times a day
Tried to perfect my voices every way
To be ready to speak when I saw you
And tell you the truth I have thought through
After school I called you over, away from your friends
At first I sound like I'm trying to make amends
For a wrong doing I never committed
And as I speak more I become more flustered
My emotions start running faster than my mouth
The script I've practiced is gone from my head
Even I barely understand what I'm saying
By the time finish I know my face is red.
Your eyes are wide and your friends are quiet
My head hangs low and the words stay heavy in the air
After a moment your lips quirk into a smile
And you go back to the group who swarm you when you get there
I don't move at first
The heartbreak devastating
I force myself to walk
Not stopping or hesitating
I open the door to my house
My brother is already home
My parents are cooking in the kitchen
I go to my room alone
I toss my backpack in the floor
I numbly put on sleeping clothes
And curl up in bed with a pillow
Then try to block the pain some more
