Blog A-Rooney (Dog With A Blog/Liv and Maddie Crossover)
Maddie's POV
I stared at the scoreboard on the wall. We were tied and there were only 2 minutes left. This was the second biggest game of the season; if we won, we would go on a trip to Pasadena, California to play nationals, and if we won that, we'd be considered the best team in the country!
But Dad had put me on the bench, so I just sat and bit my lip. I was rocking back and forth, back and forth. I started twisting the basketball charm on the bracelet Liv had gotten me when we were little.
Now there were 45 seconds left, and even Dad looked nervous. He suddenly stood up and called a timeout.
I gasped and abruptly stood up, hoping Dad would put me in.
"Alright. 30 seconds until the game is over, and I'd rather not go to overtime. Let's not waste time and win this thing now! Cassie, you're out, Madds, you're on!"
I squealed quietly and Cassie fist-bumped me.
"Lady Porcupines on three!" Dad shouted.
The entire team shouted at the top of their lungs. "1, 2, 3, LADY PORCUPINES!" Some of the spectators even flinched.
I ran on the court, and saw Stains stood behind the out-of-bounds line with the ball in her hands. The ref tweeted his whistle, and she passed to Willow. I ran up the court, getting nearer to the basket, and Willow dribbled down the court.
No one was guarding me; almost the entire team was blocking Willow from shooting. There were only six seconds left, so Willow just tossed the ball straight up.
I ran underneath it and caught the basketball with both hands. Then I shot the ball. Suddenly, everything was in slow motion.
If I made this shot, we won - but if the ball missed the basket, we'd go into overtime, and have a small shot at winning.
The ball flew up in the net, and I prepared for the rebound. I closed my eyes and listened hopefully for the promising swoosh sound the net made when the ball went through.
Sure enough, it came, and the scoreboard made its loud sound to let us know it was over. We had won. Our team was going to Pasadena!
