Six months had passed since the raid on the prison. Six months since the Governor had imprisoned her in that room, killed Milton, and left her to die at the hands of her only friend in Woodbury. Andrea's nightmares still plagued her, especially the one where the Governor returned to kill her, Rick, Michonne, and all of their friends at the prison.
Andrea turned at the sounds of Rick's voice. Seeing him at peace playing around with his baby daughter was a welcome sight. Besides all the drama with the Governor, there was the loss of Lori; several friends, and his subsequent breakdown. Seeing Rick happy brought joy to Andrea's heart. Rick deserved peace especially after successfully defeating the Governor and his "army" at their own game and taking on even more responsibility by allowing the surviving Woodbury residents to live at the prison.
Michonne constantly teased Andrea about her closeness with Rick, claiming that their feelings for each other went beyond friendship. Andrea would not deny that she was attracted to Rick, but was not about to act on it. Neither was he. Rick was too scarred from Lori's death, and Andrea wanted nothing to do with men. Who could blame her? She had a terrible track record with men and needed to be alone. Andrea shuddered at how quickly she had fallen into bed with the Governor and before that Shane Walsh, Rick's best friend. Shane had been all muscle and not much else. Unlike Rick, who thought things through, Shane was rash and hot headed, someone whom in her previous life as a civil rights attorney she never would have looked at twice. It's funny how a zombie apocalypse will make a woman settle for just about anything or anyone.
Rick being a part of Andrea's life was a godsend. He was living proof that good men still existed. That's why she prayed daily for the Governor to never return. Rick, his kids, and the others meant the world to her and just thinking of that sadistic monster made her stomach turn. Unfortunately after having spent time with the Governor and knowing how he operated, Andrea knew the Governor still had unfinished business with all of them.
