Smells

Marinette

When Marinette fantasized and daydreamed about Adrien, their eventual relationship, wedding and children, she had always imagined him smelling like expensive perfume, flowers, pine, all sorts of masculine things. When she pictured holding him close, she pictured running her delicate hands through his constantly ruffled blond locks, and breathing in his scent. However, since Marinette couldn't get within two feet of Adrien without having mental breakdowns, she had never really… smelled him… that sounded so wrong. So she stayed within her fantasies, placing smell after smell on him within each new dream, never really learning the real thing. But time wore on and with Marinette's unfortunate habit of running into and falling on Adrien she slowly began to piece together his scent. It was perfume.

Working in a bakery, Marinette knew the smell of practically a baking ingredient and Camembert, although not used often, was one of them. The cheese didn't smell inherently bad, but it didn't smell really good either. Adrien reeked of it. After realizing he heavily smelled of Camembert, she noticed that she didn't have to be too close to him to tell. She figured her imagination must have been simultaneously blocking her nose because she could smell the Camembert nearly ten feet away from Adrien if she tried. It wasn't as if Adrien didn't try to cover up the stench; occasionally, she caught a whiff of some sort of perfume but it was no use. Eventually, the scent would melt into the Camembert smell and Adrien would be at square one.

Now whenever she daydreamed, the smell of the cheese seemed to weasel its way into her imagination.

Adrien

Adrien noted that the classroom smelled heavenly. It was a delectable mixture of breads, cake, and pastries, all the things he could never eat. However, when he sat in his seat, the smell was the strongest so Adrien made it his mission to find the source of those delicious scents. It wasn't Nino, he smelled slightly of sweat and deodorant. Alya smelled like freshly printed paper. Chloe was drenched in high quality perfume, and Sabrina smelled like the library. Finally, after much searching, he found his person. He kicked himself after realizing it was Marinette; after all, her family owned a bakery. He observed that whenever Marinette entered a room, her smell of sweets would always heavily follow her. Adrien soon discovered he was slightly addicted to her scent.

Whenever he was irritable, or upset, her fragrance seemed to calm him. The sweet, flaky, fresh odor of her parent's bakery had a magical effect on him. After a while, he began actively seeking her out when he was upset. Not just because of the way she smelled. After being awkwardly caught sniffing around her at the park, they had begun talking and Adrien realized his classmate was a really, really, really, sweet girl.

Slowly, whether he knew it or not, Ladybug was being replace by the smell of croissants, tarts, and cupcakes.
