CHAPTER 1: "He Hates Himself"
He hates himself. He hates what he's become. He hates that she hates him. He hated her sister (but not so much now.) He hates Lover Boy. He hates it all. (He might even hate her...but he doesn't like to think about that.) This is his life and he hates it. Sometimes he doesn't hate it though. Sometimes he's okay. Sometimes he smiles. Sometimes he doesn't dread waking up knowing he won't see her. But these times aren't often (because he's not very good at lying to himself.) He has a schedule now. He sticks to it. He fears what will happen if he doesn't: wake up / shower / eat / try not to think of her (succeed) / walk to work / try not to think of her (succeed) / work / work / work / lunch time / skip it / work / try not to think of her (succeed) / work / avoid that one girl who stares too much / walk home / no, run home / try not to think of her (succeed) / it's a good day for hunting / no, bad day / try not to think of her (succeed) / eat / turn television on / they're talking about her / turn it off / turn it off / quit hitting the button, it's off / go to bed / try not to think of her / fall asleep / dream of her / wake up / don't cry / be a man / go back to sleep / Next Day / repeat / repeat / repeat... He knows it's wrong that he feels this way. He knows he should move on. He knows she has (but he doesn't know how to). He has forgotten how to be alone. He has forgotten what life was like before her (was there life before her?). He has forgotten how to hide his emotions. Everyone sees. Everyone sees him breaking. Everyone sees him slowly dying (no one helps). He doesn't care that everyone judges him. He doesn't care what they think. He's heard them talk about him. 'He's crazy' they say. 'There's something wrong with him' they say. 'Don't let him get too close' they say. But he doesn't care. He only cares about one thing. Katniss. But she's gone (stolen from him). And he hates it (because he knows it's his fault).
