Six-Word Story: Anguish-filled magenta to sincere jade.
Hidan awoke with tears pricking at his eyes. His body was drenched in sweat. He exhaled a shaky breath, which nearly gave way to a sob. Shakily, he pressed his fingertips against his Jashin amulet, whispering, "Please, Jashin-Sama, don't let him hurt me again." Hidan's grief-stricken face blanched when he heard a familiar voice gently coo a simple question.
"Who, Hidan? Who hurt you?"
Anguish-filled magenta eyes stared blankly at the man before him. Kakuzu: his heartless criminal partner, who shouldn't – couldn't – give a damn about his unnecessary emotions. His jade orbs displayed an odd mixture of sincerity and surprise. Said man repeated his question.
"Hidan, who hurt you?" Kakuzu's voice was laced with worry and desperation.
"M-my d-dad did," Hidan barely choked out. A near-silent gasp escaped Kakuzu's lips. He climbed into the small bed and wrapped his arms around his younger partner.
"Don't worry, Hida-chan. I will protect you." Hidan rested his head against the older man's toned chest. With every breath Kakuzu released, the frightened Jashinist relaxed slightly. Within five minutes, Hidan's tear-stained eyes drooped, and he succumbed to the clutches of slumber.
Kakuzu sighed to himself. "Why…what makes such an innocent kid so deserving of such torment?" He ran his fingers through Hidan's silky grey hair. Gently, he lowered his head and placed a chaste kiss atop the sleeping teen's forehead. Sighing again, he laid his head against Hidan's sole pillow, and melted into his own haven of dreams.
