Hetaverse. Oneshot. No Pairings.
Written for the prompt: Write a formal complaint letter to your worst fear. Really this just came out to be Gilbert using fancy wording to insist that he refuses to disappear. A nice change of pace from my usual stories, hn?
Complete Dissolution and Nonexistence-
I would like you first to understand that I embrace neither of you and do not welcome even the casual usage of your names in conversation. In fact, I find you loathsome, foul, and unutterably undesirable in all manner of the word: you sicken me and I want nothing more than for you to vanish entirely from my thoughts. However, you are both inevitable as no earthly being is truly immortal. I'm certain you love to watch your victims squirm, you sadistic bastards, struggling vainly against an event scheduled to occur since the moment of conception.
Know that I have despised you with such stomach churning intensity that even now I cling to a wretched half life if only to spite you sons of bitches who seek so fondly to snatch me up and drag me into the fathomless void of oblivion. Yet, at the core of my hatred for you, I will admit there lies a terror so paralyzing that I can barely sleep at night for fear of encountering you unawares. Even if you come for me, I will fight you. I will kick, bite, and claw at your malicious, twisted faces until you either strike back with force sufficient to render me incapacitated or abandon me for an easier prey. Though I may be weary and weakened in this current state, I will always refuse to follow you complacently and relinquish with ease my unwavering grasp on this life, this world that is the only thing I have ever known. One such as me shall never bow to the likes of you, and will continue to forge ahead regardless of technicalities. I will live as I see fit, and when you swine come for me, I will be waiting with fists and teeth to go down roughly and in a blaze of glory.
Though you might try, you will never take away my dignity, and though I am hopelessly afraid, I will face my tomorrows with determination and pride.
That I might get in just one good hit each before you both overtake me,
Gilbert Beilschmidt
