"Ms. Berlitz?" Kenny asked on the phone anxiously.

"Yes, Kenny?" said woman replied.

"Um, Dawn fell asleep in the movie theater, so I carried her back to your house," he started off.

"Then why did you call me at work?" she questioned.

"She grabbed onto my neck, and now she isn't letting go, and I forgot the key to your house and mine," he admitted, feeling incredibly dumb.

Johanna smiled on the other side of town, "Interesting. Well, you have the extras, and Dawn left her's in her room. I can't get back until 6:00, so you have two hours. Why don't you just wake her up and take her for ice cream or something?"

"I can't just wake her up! Do you remember seventh grade science when I woke her up?!" Kenny panicked.

"Calm down, it's not like it left any permanent damage," the mother rolled her eyes.

"I still have scars all over my back and acid holes in all of my stuff! How is that not permanent damage?!" he exclaimed.

"Then when you wake her up, do it in an environment where there's nothing for her to hurt you with," she suggested.

"And how am I supposed to do that, tie her to a chair?! That's right, I can't get to a chair!" he groaned.

"I'm sure you'll come up with something, I expect a lot from you," she prevented herself from chuckling at his despair.

"Why me?" he moaned as she hung up.

He stared at the sleeping girl in his arms, "I'm beginning to understand why Plum Head calls you troublesome."

An idea popped into Kenny's head. He once again participated in the struggle of dialing someone's phone number, "Hello? Rubia?"

"Yes? What's up?" she piped.

"Do you have any ideas of how to wake up Dawn in a way she won't kill me?" he begged.

She grinned way too widely for someone not to be scared, "You called the right person"

"Thank Arceus! I was getting scared that I'd-"

"I wouldn't be thanking me yet. It might not work," she cut him off.

"What do you mean?" he asked.

"It all depends on how brave you're feeling today, and how cooperative you are," she added.

"What's the plan?" he pushed.

"You know how they do it in fairy tal-"

"No way. I am not kissing Dee-Dee while she's asleep," he decided.

"You asked, and if it bothers you that much, just do it again after she wakes up. Piece of cake," she shrugged.

"I knew that asking you would be a bad idea," he grumbled.

"Then why did you do it? I think you knew this was coming, if you just need some support to push you to finally confessing, you could just tell me," she hung up.

He would have hit his head on a wall or something, but the girl curled up in his arms made it rather hard.

ONE HOUR LATER

Still hadn't woke up. He was seriously considering Rubia's idea.

"No one has to know," he told himself for comfort, "Anything for her to wake up, right?"

Johanna had called to tell him she'd be a few hours later than normal, and he was beginning to think his family and friends had actually gone through with their threat of banding together to get them to date. He knew it wasn't just a nightmare, but no one ever mentioned it again and it felt so strange.

He's never going to trust anyone ever again.

"How am I supposed to do this?" he wondered, "I could just lean down I guess."

That's just what he did.

And to be fair, he really does owe his current happy relationship with his fiance to his friends and family for giving fate a little help. He wasn't ready to admit that for one reason.

Dawn still thought it was his idea.
