Alright, for those of you who don't know me, I'm GreyAthena and this is my Oneshot story about various OCs of mine. Whether they're about love, death, or friendship will depend on my mood, so here's one about love!
Darkclaw crept through the shadows, not making a sound. He was only a few whisker lengths away from a mouse. He prepared to pounce when- "Hi Darkclaw!"
Darkclaw flinched and whirled around as the mouse scampered back to the safety of the roots. There was only one cat in all the Clans that could have just ruined his catch. It was Raintail. The skinny she-cat trotted up next to him. "Are you hunting?" she asked.
Darkclaw growled slightly. "Yes, and you just scared off the best catch I've seen all day!" he hissed
Raintail ducked her head. "Oh. Sorry."
Darkclaw noticed how much her ribs were sticking out and took pity on the young warrior. She hadn't meant any harm and she needed a good piece of fresh-kill even more than he did!
"Come on." He said. "We can find some more." Raintail jumped up, eager to earn forgiveness for her earlier blunder. She scampered into the woods, her grey and white pelt vanishing swiftly into the darkness. Darkclaw padded after her, keeping his ears open for the sounds of prey. Instead he heard the sounds of something completely different. First there was a yowl of triumph that quickly turned into terror and a loud thud. Darkclaw raced towards it and when he leapt out of the bushes he had to choke back a purr. Raintail was slumped down in front of a tree with a squirrel chattering at her.
"What happened?" Darkclaw asked.
"Well," Raintail said wearily. "I was hunting a squirrel and all of a sudden a tree jumped in front of me!"
Darkclaw grinned, despite being a little worried about Raintail. "Do you need to see a medicine cat?" he asked.
Raintail shook her head. "No I'm fine." She staggered a little when she tried to get up, though and moved like she was half asleep.
Darkclaw became more than a little concerned. "Raintail, I really think you should see Sunpetal."
"K." Raintail mumbled. Darkclaw supported her all the way back to camp. He took her straight to Sunpetal's den and waited outside while she was being taken care of. After what seemed like several moons, Sunpetal came out.
"What's wrong with her?" He asked.
Sunpetal smiled. "She's just a little dazed and she has a rather nasty bump on her head. I've been trying to get her to eat something, but she insists she's not hungry. Maybe you'll have more luck?"
Darkclaw padded into the medicine den. "Hey Raintail. How are you doing?"
"My head hurts like crazy," she responded.
"You want anything to eat?" Darkclaw asked.
Raintail shook her head. "I'm not hungry."
Darkclaw frowned. "You need to eat if you want to get better."
Rainpaw shook her head again.
Darkclaw took a deep breath and said the thing he had been thinking about while they were walking back to camp. "Listen Raintail, before we hunted together I barely knew you. I just thought you were an annoying she-cat who liked to irritate everyone around her. But now I know that you're smart and kind and funny and you may still be an annoying she-cat, but you're my annoying she-cat and I won't lose you because you're too stubborn to accept some fresh-kill."
Raintail stretched up her neck until their muzzles were touching and she whispered "I love you too Darkclaw."
