Catherine Willows played with the paper in her hands while she contemplated what to do about it. She had been offered a job in New York and was wondering if she should take it. She considered everything and realized nothing was really holding her down. There wasn't anything keeping her in Vegas. So she made her decision; she was going to New York.

Two weeks later

Her two last weeks of being in Vegas were up that day. And she had a surprise party in the office thrown by her friends of the lab. She was rather upset she didn't find Grissom there. He had been, in her mind, extra distant from her since she decided to resign. She knew it was going to be hard on him. It was hard on her too. She left room for discussion for him to tell her how he felt about her leaving. But he didn't utter a complaint, just congratulated her on her new job. The party for her ended at the end of shift and Catherine went to empty out her locker to leave for the last time in the Las Vegas CSI building. She carried her box of belongings out to the car and went back into the building to say good-bye to her friends. She hugged Nick, Warrick, Sara, Greg, Doc Robbins, and Brass and realized Grissom was still hidden away in his office. So she decided to go see him. She walked the familiar trip to his office and thought about the moment. She was probably about to see Gil Grissom for the last time in her life. It saddened her deeply and she knew she didn't want it to be good-bye. So she decided she'd give him another chance when she went to say her farewell.

"Hey." Catherine said to Grissom who was sitting behind his desk, reading a case file.

"Hi, Cath." He said, not looking up at her.

"I uh, just came to say good-bye."

There was a long pause.

"Good-bye Catherine." He told her, still not daring to look her in the eyes.

"Are you sure that's all you want to say? Nothing more?" she was practically begging him to say something, anything more then what he said, but still he just looked away from her and didn't answer.

"Well, I must be pretty stupid to believe that maybe you actually would try to stop me from going." She said calmly, but anger still laced her voice. "I at least expected a hug, a handshake, a 'have a nice life!', but all I get is a 'good-bye Catherine.' Well, have a nice life Gil." And with that she left and he still dared not to look at her. Just then Warrick emerged in his office.

"She's gone." He said. "She's really gone and you know what the worst part is Grissom? She was pretty much begging you to tell her to stay. And you wouldn't even really acknowledge her existence. What the hell is wrong with you Grissom?!"

"You don't get it Warrick. I just want the pain to go away." He said sadly.

Warrick understood now why Grissom didn't want to talk to Catherine, to say good-bye. He really didn't want her to leave. He was wishing that she'd stay, but Warrick knew he'd never tell Catherine that.

"She wants to stay Gris, and she will if you tell her."

Grissom looked into Warrick's eyes and saw that he was urging him to chase after her. So Grissom got up and ran towards the parking lot, hoping that Catherine hadn't driven away yet. He was in the parking lot and saw Catherine's Tahoe pulling out and just then he ran in front of it to stop it and Catherine slammed on the brakes. She jumped out of the car in anger and began to yell at him.

"Grissom, what the hell is wrong with you, I could have-"

Just then he pulled her close and silenced her with a kiss. She accepted it by wrapping her arms around his neck while his arms snaked around her waist. They pulled away and stared into each other's eyes.

"Don't go," he said in a hushed voice, "please." His eyes were pleading to her to stay. This was all she needed to hear. She whispered in a tone only he would hear. "Okay." And with that they kissed again in the parking lot of CSI.
