This piece was actually originally my writing assignment for my course lol, except I changed the names . I couldn't help but think of clana while writing this! It may be a tad out of their characters but it still works as a clana.

Summary- this is actually an alternative scene (of promise.) just before the lexana wedding. The main difference between this standalone and the episode is that clana have been together already. Assume that clana have kissed and that Lana cheated on Lex . The Lionel blackmail still stays, hence why the reason she is considering marrying him.
Disclaimer- Yep smallville and clana doesn't belong to me.
Rating- G.

We were meant to be

"So you love him more than me? You want to spend the rest of your life with him?" Clark asked at the wedding altar.

Lana looked up from the floor and bit her lip.

"You can't say there is nothing between us," Clark added, pointing his finger between him and Lana.

"I'm sorry. I moved on…" Lana said with a whimpered stutter, "Whatever was between us is now over."

"No, you're only saying that because his here," Clark concluded moving his head towards Lex.

Lana shook her head and looked away, "That's not true."

Clark moved his eyes up to Lex and narrowed his eyebrows, "Then what's stopping you?"

Lana stared at the wall and gave no response.

"If you're not going to be with me, at least give me an explanation," Clark demanded, reaching out to touch Lana's shoulder.

"Don't touch me," Lana responded, grabbing his hand and thrusting it off.

"What's wrong?" Clark wondered leaning towards Lana.

Lana looked towards the floor.

"What's wrong?" Clark repeated. He walked to the front of her. Lana turned to stare at the wall.

"Look at me," Clark said, touching her chin.

"Leave me alone," Lana answered, pushing her arm out. She turned around.

"I'm not letting you go," Clark stated, racing to the front of her.

Lana sighed, turning around the opposite way. Clark shuffled again to face her.

"Something happened. What is it?" Clark wondered, trying to focus at her eyes.

Lana shrugged, moving her hands against her face.

"You're not going to say anything?" Clark asked after a long pause. He opened and closed his mouth, then crossed his arms towards his chest.

"Nope."

Clark gritted his teeth, then moved his eyes slowly up towards Lex.Next he took a step towards him.

"What are you doing?" Lana asked, clenching her arm on his jacket.

"Something you cannot do…" Clark brushed past her and took a step closer, "Telling the truth about us."

"You can't do that," she said, gripping harder onto his jacket.

Clark furrowed his eyebrows and continued to walk. Lana looked over his eyes and chewed her lip.

"He will find out eventually. Better to tell him now," Clark remarked.

Lana let off a long breath, "It's not fair that you are making the decision for me."

Clark pursed his lips, "And you think it's fair for me to wait?"

Lana shuddered, "This isn't easy for me. I can't just break it off…Particularly now, it's not fair." Lana threw her arms up in the air.

"Why not?" Clark questioned, crossing his arms over his chest.

"He invited plenty of people. It'll be humiliating for him," Lana pointed out.

Clark sighed, gesturing to Lex approaching them.

"Are you ready?" Lex asked, taking Lanas hand.

Clark looked at Lana, raising his eyebrow. Was she going to marry him?
