"I HATE YOU!"

My friends just shook their heads at me. They were use to me yelling at the sky.

"Bridget, you know shouting at the clouds won't stop it raining," my friend Ellen pointed out to me while flicking her long, bushy brown hair over her shoulder.

I turned my annoyed glare to her. "It's worth a try…" I replied frustrated.

For the past two weeks, it had been raining non- stop. That rarely happened here in dear, old, boring Bundaberg. Australia wasn't known for its rainy weather, especially Queensland: only when there was a cyclone around. But most of the time it was scorching hot, sunny days. With the occasional rain cloud floating by that is.

Though the weather shocked a lot of people when it showed no attempt of clearing, the meteorologists predicted that from the massive cloud cover over Australia, we wouldn't be seeing too much sun this year.

And wasn't I rejoicing…

My friends and I were all sitting around in our lunch spot waiting for the start of school bell. For once, we were all here early. Usually a couple of us would turn up late or not at all. Though why anyone wanted to be at school ten minutes early on a rainy day was beyond me.

I gave up on my one sided argument with the sky and stormed back to my friends. "I'll win one day," I muttered as I sat myself between Ellen and my boyfriend Rai. Both chuckled at me while Rai hugged my side, "I'll be waiting for that day," Ellen replied to my statement with a wide grin.

I rolled my eyes and looked passed her, "Hey, Drake, go bash the sky for me." The boy next to Ellen raised his eyebrow at me, and then looked at the sky confused. "Um… ok, sure." Ellen burst out laughing and kissed her boyfriend on the cheek, I just grinned.

"OHMYGOODNESSBRIDGETYOUHAVETOSEEWHATIJUSTSAWINEARLYDIEDWHENISAWITCOMEONYOUGOTTOSEE!!!!"

I blinked at my blonde friend as she ran at us, screaming at the top of her lungs. "Whoa, whoa, whoa… slow down there Sarah. Jeez… what's hyped you up?" I asked cautiously watching her jumping up and down and throwing glances over her shoulder every few seconds.

"I just saw-" but as she started explaining, the warning bell chimed. I sighed "Tell me at lunch, Sarah. We got to get to class now." I then told everyone I'd see them at lunch and said goodbye to Rai and headed off.

Ellen ran up to me and we began our way to the other end of the school where out class was. Ellen turned to me once we were out of ear-shot. "What do you think she was so flustered about?" she asked, furrowing her eyebrows. I just shrugged, "Probably what everyone else is so flustered about." I motioned towards groups of students huddled together whispering and silently squealing. Ellen shook her head, "We'll find out soon enough."

As we finally entered the classroom everyone's heads whipped around to see who'd walked in. Disappointment crossed their features as we settled down in our seats at the front of the class.

I leaned toward Ellen. "If I didn't know any better, I'd suspect that there is a new student here." Ellen nodded and gave me a thoughtful look, "Maybe that's what Sarah was so excited about?" I stared ahead of myself at the whiteboard. "Well, if Sarah's excited about a new student that would have to mean it's a gu-"

A knock sounded on the door and every head looked again, including myself and Ellen.

There standing in the door was a teenage boy with messy bronze coloured hair, extremely pale skin and strange golden eyes. He was beautiful to say the least. "Hi, I'm Edward Cullen. I'm a new student here."
