Chocolate is Lame
Happy Valentine's Day to everyone! -Rin
Otori Choutarou was born on Valentine's Day, so his doubles partner Shishido Ryou thought that chocolate would be a good gift. It had to be handmade, of course, for it to be special. And Shishido would just ignore the fact that it was girly to make chocolate on Valentine's Day, because he was very manly. Very.
And that's why he felt perfectly comfortable in his grandmother's frilly apron, making chocolate for a guy. But once he had found a recipe online and gathered all the ingredients, he realized he didn't know how to cook. Well, it couldn't be that hard. He could just wing it.
Two hours, three batches of chocolate, and one ruined spatula later, Shishido decided that chocolate was lame. But he had managed to produce one batch of edible chocolate, so he would give that to Choutarou. It wasn't pretty, but he wrapped it in cling wrap and tied some red ribbon on it in an attempt to make it look better.
The next day, after school but before practice, he went to meet Choutarou in the hallway by his art class. After a short wait while his partner chatted with his teacher, he pulled the chocolate out of his pocket and hid it behind his back.
"C'mere, Choutarou."
"Yes, Shishido-san?" It was now or never. Shishido couldn't lose his nerve now, that would be super lame. He looked at the ground and thrust the chocolate at Choutarou with his arm out straight.
"Here." Choutarou made a little noise of happiness and took it. Shishido crossed his arms, listening to Choutarou unwrap it.
"You made it yourself, just for me? Thank you!" Of course Choutarou was too nice to tell him his chocolate looked like a toddler had made it. And then sat on it.
"Happy birthday. 'N happy Valentine's Day." Choutarou looked up from the chocolate.
"Oh! Shishido-san, am I your valentine?"
"Wh-?! I-!" Shishido spluttered. "I guess, yeah." He looked at the ground again, but felt arms wrap around his waist before he was lifted into the air and crushed against Choutarou's chest in a hug.
"Thank you, Ryou!"
"Hey! Put me down!" Choutarou set the older boy down, beaming.
"Sorry. I'm just happy." Shishido shook his head, but he was smiling.
"You dork." He hugged Choutarou. "But I'm happy too."
