The Book of Life was such a great movie! I'm Mexican and it's the first family movie that actually respects our culture and embraces it. I'm proud of who I am, and this movie is proud of its Mexican heritage. I do not won any characters and the song I used is actually a song by Mexican group called Timbiriche. Look it up, it's a really cute song and it can help you understand the slow pace of this one-shot. Hope you enjoy!
It was the end of Día de Muertos, there wasn't a sound in the graveyard. Everyone had gone home after the celebration. Everyone except a 5 year old… Manolo Sanchéz was sitting by his mother's grave with what could be considered as the smallest guitar in the world. He started to play a soft tune, and the silence was finally over. Then he decided to sing.

Then Manolo's singing was interrupted by a sigh. He saw a shadow near by. "Who is there?!" Manolo exclaimed happily. Then the shadow disappeared, and in its place a little girl appeared. "I didn't want to interrupt you. Your song was really nice." said the Little Girl. Manolo looked down at his guitar. "I-I don't mind… I just thought you were someone else." Manolo said with a little hint of sadness in his voice. "I'm sorry for not being the person you expected. Hey! I can bring that person over if you want!" The girl smiled. Manolo gave a sad smile back. "It's kinda impossible. It's Día de Muertos, so I thought if I sang for my mom she would come back. At least to listen to my song." Manolo explained. The girl looked down and sat next to Manolo, not really sure how to act in this situation. "I'm Maria" She said giving the warmest smile she could give. "I'm Manolo."
"You know… I'm sure your Mom hears every word of your song. And I can't speak for your Mom but I would love to hear the rest of it." Maria said and then gave a slight chuckle. Manolo blushed and started to play the guitar again.
