Conversations with Peeta and Katniss after the bombing at the Capitol, end of rebellion, etc. During her PERIOD OF SILENCE. The italics are Katniss, the normal font is Peeta. I've been playing around with different dialogue styles. If you were noticing or anything.
EDIT: I feel I must clarify that these are conversations taking place separately. As in, Plutarch or Haymitch or whoever is not speaking with BOTH Peeta AND Katniss at the same time. They are talking to them at different times, but saying the same things. SEE WHAT I MEAN?
Review. It makes me feel special and such. *sparkles*
Echoes
How are you feeling?
- Silence.
- I've been better.
Yes, well. Do you feel like talking?
- Silence.
- Not particularly.
Okay.
/
So, how are you doing?
- Silence.
- Gee, I don't know. I'll have to think about that.
Well, the doctors say you'll be up and about in no time!
- Silence.
- That's nice to hear.
Oh, have you heard the latest about Snow's trial?
- Silence.
- No. Fill me in, won't you?
Well, he's guilty of course. Nothing but death will make us happy now. And after that little, ahem, affair with the bombs, nothing but his death will make the Capitol happy either. It's just a question of how public it'll be, really.
- Silence.
- Silence.
Oh, is that the time? I must get going! I have an interview!
- Silence.
- Bye.
/
All the districts are in relative peace, now.
- Silence.
- Are they?
Yeah.
- Silence.
- Silence.
Things are supposed to be getting better.
- Silence.
- I know.

(It was funny, they all thought as they left those awkward, tense visits. The head doctor, Plutarch, even Haymitch. None of them could miss the echoes in their answers, whether in Katniss' silence, or Peeta's quiet jibes. But then again, words always were Peeta's weapon of choice. And the silence was Katniss' shield. And maybe together, they'd be able to defend themselves. At least, that was what they thought.
But you shouldn't take it from them. They were too wrapped up in themselves to really be able to judge.)
