Author's note; To be quite honest, I am not sure what was going on in my head when I decided to publicly post this with pride, however, I have, after a considerable amount of time, decided to re-write this story. Hold on, before I lose your attention, it will have the same plot and the original summary is the entire fanfiction explained through awful grammar. It will just be written better, and much more professional as a fanfiction on Fanfiction. Net can be written, or so I will try. Please enjoy this much better written story as I try to update/rewrite as often as I can. –Naus

Also disclaimer, needless to say, I do not own Fairy tail in any way. This fanfiction is a product purely for entertainment. Now bear with me through the first chapter, as I am forced to read it.

Pain.

Pain is just fear leaving the body, pain was all she felt. Excruciating pain that was marking her for life.

Pain that reminded her of all the agony that was to be found in the world. Pain that made her mind rake together all the joyous moments she had shared with her mother in the short time that she was alive. Pain that made her wish she was a child again; ignorant and full of life.

Lucy cracked a grin at the sight of her surroundings. She was not suffering alone, she had her friends, her teammates; her family around her. It offered her the bout of sympathy she needed, the small push she needed to fight even more. How she had managed to find to find such wonderful friends was something she wondered sometimes, in the years she has gotten to know them, they have taught her more than any of the private tutors she had encountered.

This awful fight was just another occurrence in their misadventures. Lucy knew what loneliness felt like, she knew what loneliness was more than anyone, but now she was suffering with her friends, if anything that was worth smiling for. The same friends who had used every inch of their strength to make sure she never had any reason to go back to her father, the ones who did not care that she was a Heartfilia, a name that did not belong amongst orphans and violence. The same friends who had cried with her, laughed with her, and suffered with her. The friends she never had as a child, Lucy grew up lonely, and now loneliness was nothing, but a foreign feeling to her, thanks to her family, her new-found family, and Lucy would be damned if she went down without properly showing her appreciation.

"He's too strong!" Lucy heard Erza whisper between pants and puffs,

it was a difficult battle, and they weren't winning. Lucy was almost certain the entire ship was on the verge of sinking. Even if they won, they would, most likely, drown. If they lost, they would lose at the hands of Zeref. It was a tricky situation with death as the ultimate outcome. Zeref shook his head in distress, "Give up, don't you realize it's helpless?" he damn-near yelled at Team Natsu.

Lucy wanted to retort, she wanted to say something motivate her teammates, something to give them some of her strength, but not a single word came out. She had a firm grip on her whip, it didn't do as much damage as her spirits, but she had to do something, she couldn't lay there and watch as Erza was relentlessly reequipping armour after armour, damaging herself in the process as well.

She couldn't, not when Gray was close to tears, and Natsu quiet as a mouse, if there was one thing she knew about Natsu, it's that he was never quiet, regardless of situation.

Perhaps it was the fact that she had mussed hair, only one flip-flop on, and was craving a hot bath that she began to aimlessly swing at Zeref with her whip, perhaps it was the fact that her skirt was torn, she was bleeding, and her top could barely be called a top anymore that she was trying to summon spirit after spirit. She wanted nothing more than to go home to the guild, where she truly belonged.

Against all of her will. She decided to stand up despite her body protesting, her wounds aching, and her energy decreasing.

It worked for a slight moment, Zeref had been caught off-guard. The victory did not last, Zeref still had the upper-hand. A little surprise was nothing to him, but everything to Lucy. She never anticipated his attack, much less the agony that followed as she rolled on the floor. She could only smile a little bit as she felt her body slowly lift up, was that the doing of Zeref? She had no idea, perhaps her mother had come to get her. She could almost imagine her mother's warm hands embracing Lucy, she had shown her appreciation. She had fought, against all odds, she had fought. Natsu's personality had rubbed onto her without a doubt, she hoped he was proud of her actions. Lucy never felt the water that engulfed her, she never felt her body sink down, she never heard the cries that followed, all she she was the bright light and the familiar voice of her mother: "My dear."

She could feel her mother's warm arms catching her, "Mother, I'm home."
