Hermione Granger held her head high as she walked towards the Quidditch Pitch on Hogwarts grounds. She was going to watch Harry, Ron, and Ginny practice because she had nothing else better to do. Climbing into the stands she watched the Gryffindor team mount their brooms and fly off, drilling, lapping, scrimmaging and whatever else you do for Quidditch Practice. After practice ended she walked onto the Pitch. Ron had been given the job of rounding up the balls for today, and was having a hard time getting one of the Bludgers to stay in its holder. Ron finally managed the Bludger and looked up to see Hermione standing there, holding his broom in her hand waiting for him to be done with the balls.
"Want a ride?" he asked?
"Oh," Hermione said, a hint of worry in her voice, "I 'spose so, just promise you won't let me fall!"
"'Mione," he said grinning, "I would never let you fall."
Her mounted his broom with Hermione in front of him. He pushed off the ground and out off of the Pitch. They were flying about 20 feet form the ground but Hermione was still gripping the handle with an iron fist and had her eyes squeezed shut.
"You can loosen up,"
"I'll fall,"
"No you won't, I won't let anything happen to you 'Mione,"
Hermione slowly and hesitantly opened an eye and gasped at the view. The Black Lake was spread out beneath them like a giant blanket.
"Oh Ron," Hermione gasped. "It's breathtaking,"
It's not the only thing, he thought, Merlin she's gorgeous.
Hermione inhaled and took in her surroundings. The Black Lake and the old Oak Tree on the banks, Hogwarts on their left, and the warmth of Ron's body.
Ron snaked an arm around Hermione's waist and whispered in her ear, "I'll never let you fall,"
Hermione thought she might melt right off the broom and into the lake.
She turned her head around to look at Ron. All she could do is nod.
She was so happy, just spending time together with him. Smiling she turned back around and said softly, "I'm glad you would never let me fall Ron."
