People say there is an exception to every rule and I believe they are correct, because I have seen my best friend, who is an exception to the rule herself- fall in love. I was born a rule breaker; I'm Billy Gibbon's daughter for God's sakes. It's a bit mandatory to be the wild child of the group, you understand right? A famous artist's daughter has expectations and all of that good stuff - to be a wild child. I liken the expected 'wild child' attitude to being a military brat. You are just born with higher expectations from people it seems.
As the Eagles say, "City girls just seem to find out early how to open doorts with just a smile. A rich old man and she won't have to worry. She'll dress up all in lace and go in style..." I had a friend who is a brat; one never stops not being a brat. It's a God given right, once born into a military family one suddenly is part of a greater good-like it or not. You learn to adjust because you don't have a choice in the matter. I remember we were all at a bar when we were in our teens, and true to brat form my friend was always the trouble maker. Now, I'm not insinuating all brats are it's just a stigma or expectation that comes with the title. She was the one I could count on to be beside me in jail, not the one doing the bailing out.
Trust me, rules-laws and I, go hand and cuff. Back to expectations-the Eagles also said, "You can't hide your lyin' eyes and your smile is a thin disguise. I thought by now you'd realize, there ain't no way to hide your lyin' eyes..." While my best friend Temperance Brennan is not cheating on anyone as the Eagles song "Lyin' Eyes" implies. She has cheated herself for so very long. That is until the other night when she couldn't hide her lyin' eyes from her exception any longer. She couldn't fight it any longer, and she finally gave into her heart and fell in love. Learning that every now and then, it's worth it to take the risk and fall, because in order to ever spread your wings you have to jump first. Having faith that your wings will not only allow catch you and allow you to fly, but let you soar to new heights that you never even knew exsisted.
