"His name is..." the woman, a blonde, dropped a book on the table.
"Are you telling me that this guy's name is..." Colby picked up the book and dropped it.
"Yeah!"
Colby and David looked at each other wondering if she was crazy, or she just didn't want to cooperate.
"I thought you wanted to cooperate" David got firm.
"That is his name."
"You expect us to believe that ..." David picked up and dropped the book "Is his name??"
"So uh...how do you spell that?" Colby asked lamely. He, did have to put this in a report.
"A, S, dash S."
"Ass?" Colby said, as he wrote it down.
"Ass?"
"Isn't that what it spells?" the younger agent pointed out.
"His name is..." she picked up and dropped the book again.
"No offense, but that doesn't sound like ass" David told her.
"It's A, S dash S!"
"Thank you for your time. We'll be in touch" David gave a professional smile, and left the apartment with Colby. It didn't look like they were going to get anywhere with the witness and they did have more promising leads to pursue.
"How the hell are we gonna put that in the report????" Colby asked.
Just then, David's cell rang.
"It's Don..." he told his partner with a sigh. There was a lot of pressure to solve the case. Don had been pushing them, and was in one of his dark moods.
"Better you than me" Colby thought as David answered the phone with a wince.
The End.
