Into the Light.

Every year, there'll be a week of non-stopping rains over the country of Clow. It'll go from morning to noon; fat, dark clouds set as far as the eye can see. Legends of the country have it that they are tears caused by the grief of the Goddess after her beloved, a mere human, died when he fell of a cliff.

During those seven days, few people move through the streets, sharing the Goddess mourning. The Castle's bell will call upon each midnight, it's bell calling softly out there for the lost one.

"You won't see it if you don't hurry!" Princess Sakura tells him, her eyes wide and shining.

Syaoran looks back towards his father, but Fujikata just smiles and nods, walking a little behind, talking with the King.

The princess ignores the prince's teasing and she smiles and waves towards Yukito-san, one of the acolites, but she keeps pulling his hand. Her skin is soft and warm and Syaoran tries not to get distracted as Sakura drags him towards wherever she wants them to be. She's almost bouncing, glancing towards the still dark shapes of the desert horizon and then towards his face.

The legends also say that after seven days and seven nights of the Goddess grieving for her love, the other gods and spirits of the land were moved by the Goddess' pain so they took upon her beloved's soul and the love he had felt for the Goddess and by their will, they gave it divinity. The love he felt for the Goddess even in death was so strong that it shone out of their hold and up high in the sky, close and warm enough for the Goddess to always be able to feel it, and it shone bright enough for the whole world to see it, becoming the sun.

Syaoran gasps as the dark clouds begin parting, the Priest's words in the background, the sun rising from beneath the dunes in orange, violet and gold. Sakura squeezes his hand and Syaoran only darts his eyes a moment to notice her smile before he looks forward again.

Just a little beyond the walls of the city, the desert has been transformed into a pasture, green grass and flowers covering where it's usually only sand.

Sakura giggles and pulls his hand again.

"Come on!" The princess calls, dragging him towards the stairs. "It only lasts a few hours!"

Syaoran nods, still overwhelmed, but he runs with the Princess as she drags him towards the warmth of the new day.
