I don't own BMFM, which totally sucks. If Charley got sick, how would our brave heroes fare?
The First Sick Day
Man, I hated having the measles. That meant I was gonna have to close up the garage. Throttle, Vinnie, and Modo talked me into leaving it open. They agreed to do my repairs for me till I got well. I tried to protest when I got weak. They immediately grew concerned. They got me to bed and put a cold compress on my forehead.
A doctor friend who daughter they had saved and who knew about them examined me.
"Measles." He said, after seeing red spots on my face," Make sure she gets plenty of rest and fluids."
"Will she be okay, doc?" Vinnie asked, pale as a sheet. He had never seen me so sick before. Neither had Modo or Throttle. So they were worried. Martian Mice have stronger immune systems than humans.
"Not to worry. Measles isn't fatal. After a few weeks she'll be up and about. Good day." The doctor told them, kindly.
"Don't worry, Charley-girl. We'll take care of everything." Throttle said.
"We sure will." Modo said.
They had knocked down Limburger's Tower for the fifth time this week. It would take him at least a month to rebuild it. Now they were bored. So they did my repair work for me. Modo and Vinnie even went grocery shopping while Throttle answered the phone and wrote down the names and phone numbers of customers that needed their cars repaired.
"Brought you some dinner, Charley-ma'am." Modo said, walking in my room carrying a tray. He helped me sit up and began spoon-feeding me cut up hot dogs with mustard.
"Not the best cook." He apologized. I smiled gratefully. Modo was such a giving, nuturing person. He was telling me about when he went shopping.
"I ain't never seen so many types of food before." He said, "I remembered what you once told me about grocery shopping. Everything went smoothly. I had to get Vinnie out of a jam, literally. One of the employees accidentally left a free samples sign in the produce dept next to a plastic sack of grapes. We don't have any of that fruit on Mars. All we've ever had was dried vegetables and canned meat. Vinnie had never seen grapes before.
He started popping them in his mouth thinking they were free. He ate a whole cluster till the store manager fussed at him. I had to drag him outta the store after paying for those grapes as well as the groceries."
I smiled brightly and softly chuckled to myself as I pictured that scene of Vinnie and those grapes.
Well, after a few weeks I felt like myself again. I was ready to take on the world. I got up and got dressed.
"Guys?" I called out. No answer.
I went into the living room and saw a shocking sight. The tv was on and there on the sofa were three Biker mice with measles and cold compresses on their heads. I shook my head. Here we go again.
