A/N: Wrote this out of boredom, based on the scene where Rory tries on the ring when she's alone in the apartment.

Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters. All come from Team Palladino and are owned by The WB/CW.

Rory slipped the ring on her finger. She stared at her hand and smiled. It looked beautiful. Not too big but not too small. The image of perfection. Just as the man that went with it.

Logan, master and commander and total sweetheart. How can she say no?

When she pictured herself in the future it was with him. A small house where'd they both come home to in the evening and greeted by a brunette girl and a little boy who was the spitting image of his father. And when she'd write an article her name would be Rory Huntzbeger not Rory Gilmore.

But was she ready for marriage? She didn't think so. And she knew her mother didn't either. The look that her mother had on her face when Logan proposed just proved it. Sure, Logan was the one but she was only 22. Graduating from Yale was a big step and getting engaged was a whole other huge step.

Logan had changed so much over the year. He was no longer the irresponsible, drink all night, carefree trust fund kid. He was part of the real world and she couldn't be more proud of him.

Even if he had change, was it reason to drop all her plans and move across the country? Couldn't they just try the long distance thing? It had been hard the last time but this time they'd still be in the same country. The choice was between Logan, guacamole and San Francisco or her mother, Luke's coffee and Stars Hollow. It was a hard choice but she had to make it.

And the answer was no, she wasn't ready for marriage or to move. She just wasn't ready to move away from her mother and her own save haven where she can run away to. Logan would understand right?

And if he left after she'd say no then it just wasn't meant to be, it was a scary thought but she had to do what was right. And who knows maybe they will just end up together after running into each other on the streets. It could be a cute story for the kids.

She has to say no. No big backyard or avocado tree, no becoming Lorelai Leigh Huntzberger and no blond little boy who looked just like Logan.

A/N: Short but I hope it's good. I might rewrite it, it didn't turn out the way I wanted. Anyways press little blue Bert and leave a review. I really want to hear people's opinion. I don't think I got Rory right.
