P.I.X.A.L watched as Zane and the others worked on getting to the asteroid and securing the golden weapons. She helped get away from Pythor by summoning a ship. Yet, in all the chaos of that day, Nya took her by the hand and led her away to a secluded area, her expression deadly serious. It didn't suit her face well.
"Nya, what is wrong?" She asked. The girl in question gave her a hard stare, eyes cold and sharp as steel, even more so than P.I.X.A.L's.
"I know you love Zane and he loves you back, but let me tell you something," Nya began, her voice holding a tense tone. "Zane is more in touch with his emotions than any robot, even you. He even thought he was a human once, and it was jarring for him to find out otherwise," At this, P.I.X.A.L was surprised. She had not known this about Zane, and she put the information in the folder she had created in her mind full of everything about and of her beloved. "It hurt him more than anyone could've imagined when you went offline, and he barely knew you," Nya's voice grew softer at that, but soon hardened again. "So let me tell you one. Little. Thing," P.I.X.A.L was practically smashed a gained the wall with how close Nya's face was to hers.
"If you break his heart, I'll never forgive you."
P.I.X.A.L felt her own half of Zane's heart shatter as her love disappeared in a wave of blue energy. He was dead. It was something she wished she couldn't process. Her memories of him flashed before her, from the moment she'd seen his smiling face. She sobbed into Nya's shoulder, artificial tears streaming down her cheeks. Though artificial, they weren't fake.
Her sorrow made them real.
Nya had been very adamant about Zane being the equivalent of a younger brother to her. He was so innocent, and she wanted to keep him safe from whatever she could, including heartbreak. So, she was very pleased with herself after she had that conversation with P.I.X.A.L about the relationship the two robots shared.
Yet, now Zane was gone, so the conversation was meaningless.
It was like someone had stabbed her in the chest. Zane had died to save them. To save everyone. She felt P.I.X.A.L sob into her shoulder, soaking her clothes with tears. However, she wasn't even thinking about that. All she could think about was that a part of her family had disappeared. Again. It hurt her more than anything, and all she could see was him getting shocked over and over as he refused to release his grip on the Overlord's golden armor. She was pulled out of her thoughts as she heard the sobs of P.I.X.A.L grow louder. Her face soon held a look of pity. She had made sure P.I.X.A.L wouldn't break Zane's heart.
She never thought about him breaking P.I.X.A.L's.
P.I.X.A.L couldn't bear to go to Zane's funeral. It would hurt too much. She watched from afar as he was given a statue, something she knew would cause him to become flustered and immediately say it wasn't needed. Zane was perfect, too perfect to exist forever, too perfect for her. She missed him so much. All of the sudden, she heard his voice. Saw his face all over the monitors. It just couldn't be true. She could see the factory working without instruction, and she ran to it, hopes higher than ever before. As she walked in, the conveyor belt moved her down the line. She heard his voice again, asking the age-old question that she would say yes to an infinite number of times, the question that she knew only Zane would ask, the question that made her smile and become the happiest robot in the world.
"Are we compatible now?"
