"Jean are you okay?" James asked as he saw the latter in Jean's hand and knew exactly what it was.

"Yeah I'm fine, have you made the bed?" Jean asked as she'd been up hours but James had only just surfaced.

"Stop trying to change the subject, I know you're with me but it's still okay to be upset over your divorce."

"James I'm fine."

"You don't have to pretend with me sweetheart, I want to be there for you."

"I don't need you to be there for me."

"Don't push me away Jean, don't worry about upsetting me because you won't. I know the end of a marriage is sad, you can talk to me about it."

"I'm not pushing you away and I know you'd be fine but I am fine now honestly James stop fussing." Jean said, her voice getting louder and louder until she was shouting. "If you're going to keep fussing then you can go away."

"All I'm trying to do is make sure you're okay and your shouting is making me doubt what you're saying."

"I told you I was fine and you kept fussing!" Jean shouted.

"I was trying to show you I cared and be a supportive partner, you often say what you don't mean, how am I supposed to know when you're being honest about your feelings and when you're not?!" James shouted back as Jean scoffed, "What? I'm not a blooming mind reader!"

"I never said you were but I said I was fine, I smiled at you when I said it, does that sound like someone on the verge of tears?!"

"It wouldn't be the first time you've done that!"

"This isn't about being a mind reader James, it's about your continuous fussing, right now I needed reminding that being with you means nothing else matters."

"You know that already." James sighed.

"I know I do, I thought you'd tune into the fact that today I wanted a nice day curled up without even a hint of fussing."

"I'm sorry Jean, I should have known." He said as he pulled her into his arms.

"And I'm sorry too, I shouldn't have shouted or started an argument." Jean said as James led her back up the stairs to bed.
