Goodbye To You
OneShot
Of all the things I've believed in
I just want to get it over with
Tears form behind my eyes but I do not cry
Counting the days pass me by
Casey balled up a picture of a smiling boy only to unfold it and stare into frozen brown eyes. In those eyes she saw so much happiness, yet felt so much pain. Again she rolled up the picture, crumbling it between her hands, and throwing it into the rubbish bin. With a heavy sigh Casey got up off of her shared bed and continued to empty the contents of her night stand drawers. Pictures and small sentimental objects passed before the girls eyes. None she payed attention to until there was a small black book resting in her hands.
I've been searchin' deep down in my soul
Words that I'm hearin' are starting to get old
It feels like I'm startin' all over again
The last three years were just pretend
And I said
Casey picked up the full box and left the room. Upon entering the living room she nodded to the other figure there and handed him the small box. "This the last of it then?" asked the man with the gruff voice, and appearance to match.
"Yes." said Casey sadly looking out at the living room which held so many memories. Her eyes roamed over to a green armchair, brought at a garage sale. "Our very first piece of furniture."said Casey more to herself that the rooms other occupant. "Man, how am I leaving this place?"
"On four wheels." said the man jokingly, though Casey did not laugh. "I'll just, eh, take this out." he said before heading out the small apartments front door.
I still get lost in your eyes
And it seems that I can't live a day without you
Closin' my eyes and you chase my thoughts away
To a place where I am blinded by the light
But it's not right
Casey just stood in the middle of the apartment watching various spots that held powerful memories when a young man with wild brown hair came in. "Case what's going on?" upon hearing his voice call her name Casey spun about. She focused on the man she'd spent the last three years of her life with.
"We both know what's going on here, Derek." she answered softly. So, in fact, that he barely heard.
"Oh." he said moving closer. Casey stood still, transfixed as she had been on the armchair. "Why babe?"
"You've changed me so much. I hardly recognize me anymore, Derek. I love you more than life itself."
"I feel the same way." said Derek moving closer, staring into Casey's soul. She almost got caught up in him once again.
"That's the problem." said Casey looking away as tears welled up in her eyes.
And it hurts to want everything
And nothin' at the same time
I want what's yours and I want what's mine
I want you but I'm not givin' in this time
Without looking at him Casey walked past Derek to the door, grabbing her purse along the way. "Just know." Derek turned as did Casey, and they watched one another as she spoke. "Just know that wherever I am I'll always love you."he advanced on her person as the words slipped from her lips only to find her moving backward. "Goodbye to you Derek Venturi."
Goodbye to you
Goodbye to everything that I knew
You were the one I loved
The one I tried to hold onto
Goodbye to you
