Far off Dawn
*Day is gone.................whispers a noiseless voice, like a fragment of a song these words.....
The night approaches as a lone figure gazes out across a battlefield, with these words running through their mind, straight to the soul.....
* Gone the sun.........
The light from the sun becomes stronger as it prepares to go out, the shadows lenghten. Pale light flickers across the dull charred pieces of metal, no longer retaining their luster and bright color, discarded and forgotten after serving their purpose. Much like that person, a soldier whose battle is over.
*Gone the light from the hills........
The destroyed landscape vanishes as the darkness approaches to hide the wrongdoings from sight, making him wish that day would never come. So as he would not have to face again what he was responsible for. Yet it was important to remember, to remember the harshness of war.Though the darkness cannot make the charred remains disappear, perhaps time would blur his memory from the many events that are so vivid right now.
*Gone the day.......
There are no stars tonight. The dark sky is clouded over with silence. A calm reverance seems to settle over the shadows of the twisted and broken machinary. The half moon covered by smoky clouds will still shine its light......
*All is well........
A slight rustling and clanking as a weak wind blows and whistles through the machinary and ruffles his hair. Tomorrow would go on as planned, it is only himself that would change. Whether it be for better or worse, that was what he could control, but he will never forget any of the battles. Haunting memories of the screams of other young soldiers like himself, before he killed them. Yet.........life will go on, he coud never change the past so their was no sense in mourning....but........
*Safely rest............
He closes his eyes and stands their with his head slightly lowered as if shamed. In the darkness his face takes on a troubled look and he stands their a few seconds longer. Then abrubtly he raises his head and turns away. Walking back through the woods. Tomorrow they would destroy their gundams, lay them to rest so to speak. They would end up as burned pieces of metal, not much different from the fate of their enemies.
*Say goodnight.............
Ok. I sorta messed up on the song. The actual lyrics don't fit as well as the ones I had mistaken for them so I left it the way it is. The actual song is 'Taps' It is the what the trumpets play during remembrance day (cept a more complicated instrumental version.) The actual lyrics are: Day is done, gone the sun, from the lake, from the hills, from the sky....All is well, safely rest, God is nigh. By the way, who were you picturing when you red this? I left it up to you which Gundam pilots musings these were. Yeah I know its short, complicated, and hard to figure out but it was so cool and interesting to write. (holds up banner, "yay! This is the first serious piece I've ever done. " Though I was working on this really great story called koko but the floppy disk it was on was lost. So it took me awhile to come up with another idea.") Ja!
