The girl on the bus had a look on her face that was similar to that of a deer that had been caught in car headlights: confused, stunned, and scared.

She didn't look like one of the people who normally rode this bus; in truth, she didn't look like she had ever ridden a bus before.

She was wearing jeans, bleached light blue, in the currently popular style. She also had on a pink button-down blouse - three-quarter sleeve, with a collar and ruffles around the neckline. On her back, she had a plain canvas duffel bag, and she clutched a pink wallet in her hand as though her life depended on the contents, which it probably did.

The girl glanced left and right constantly, as though ill at ease with her surroundings; the bus was dirty and loud, and full of strangers. She also checked the screen at the front of the bus that showed the next stop every few minutes, as though she had somewhere she urgently needed to be and to miss her stop would be unbearable. The girl didn't know exactly when her stop would come up.

The bus stopped, but the girl didn't move from her seat. She did, however, see the next stop sign change to show the next station; it was evidently her stop, because she reached up and pressed the "request stop" button.

As the girl got off the bus and it pulled away, she looked up at the sky. She wondered where she should go, now that she had run away from the life she had always known. She took a deep breath; this seemed to calm her, and she straightened her shoulders. Her confidence boosted, Princess Peach of the Mushroom Kingdom walked forward and stepped through the doors of the airport.
