A Series Of Unfortunate Events

Chapter One

It was cold and snowy, and Maddy Smith, a 14 year old girl, and her best friend Rhydian Morris, also 14, decided to go ice skating. In the local park.

A little while later they where wobbling about on the ice.

Suddenly Rhydian slipped and fell.

"Woah, ah! OW!" Cried Rhydian. "My ankle!"

"Oh no, Rhydian are you okay?" Asked maddy.

I should think that it was quite obvious that I'm NOT!

Thought Rhydian, but instead he said, "No! I fell on my ankle!" Suddenly, the ice broke, Rhydian was in the ice-cold water, gasping for breath!

"Rhydian!" Cried Maddy, "Hang on, I'll phone an ambulance!

She ran to a nearby telephone and dialled 999.

"Which service do you require?" Asked a woman on the end of the line.

"Um, ambulance, please, my friend fell over on the ice, then the ice broke, and I can't reach him to get him out!" Maddy cried.

"Ok, where are you?"

The woman asked.

"Um, I'm in the local park, near Mill Lane, in Stonybridge," She replied.

"Ok love someone's on their way"

"Ok thanks bye." She hung up.

She heard the low rumble of an engine, and looked up, the ambulance had arrived!
