Never Alone
19-year-old Rin tossed and turned in her sleep. She was wrapped around Sesshomaru, who was in his full demon form, to keep her warm from the icy snow that matched his hair. Lately she's been having nightmares. Tonight's dream session was horrid. It consisted of terrible emotional pain. The memories of the wolves that killed her kin, and the vision of her losing her beloved Sesshomaru.
Rin was hiding in a hut, obviously terrified; she heard the growls and snarls of a pack of wolves. "Sesshomaru-Sama! Please help!" she yelled, her hands over her ears. "Lord Sesshomaru!" she yelled again hoping that the demon she deeply loved would come to her aid. Then, out of the nothing, she saw a figure just outside the hut curtains. "L-lord Sesshomaru?" she said timidly. "Rin." Said the deep voice she simply adored. "Lord Sesshomaru!" she yelled relieved. "Is that really you?" she continued. "Yes, Rin, come." Said the figure holding out his hand. Rin smiled and grabbed it. "Oh, Sesshomaru-Sama, I was so scared!" she said looking down. "I know… I could smell it." He said seriously. "I can also smell a lot of blood… not yours, but much human blood was shed here today." He said looking around; Rin did the same and cried to see all the people she knew on the ground; dead and bloody. She collapsed on her knees and dug her face in her hands and sobbed. Sesshomaru kneeled to meet her and held up her face. "Rin." He said wiping tears from her flushed cheeks. "They're gone." She said between loud uncontrollable sobs. "I'm alone." She whispered. Sesshomaru couldn't take the sight of his Rin like this. He held her in his arms. "You will never be alone." He said clearly. Rin was startled; she never thought he would say something like that. "Lord Sesshomaru…" she said amazed. Then Sesshomaru's eyes widened and his mouth became small. Rin could see blood staining his silver hair and a wolf running off with a chunk of meat from the back of his neck in its mouth. She turned to Sesshomaru. "Rin." He whispered with his last breath, and then his head leaned forward; his eyes closed, and his body lifeless. "No!" she yelled crying. "No! Not him! Anyone but him! Any of these bastards, but him! Why him!" she cried and hugged his lifeless body.
Rin cried as she moved around. "AH!" she yelled bolting up, finally waking from her nightmare. "Rin, what's wrong?" asked Sesshomaru as he returned to his regular form, prepared to kill whatever it was that scared her that way. "Oh my!" she yelled embracing him. "Rin!" he exclaimed in his regular monotone voice. "I had a terrible dream, Sesshomaru-Sama! I dreamt you were killed, and I was alone! But you're not! You're right here with me, and you won't leave me! Oh, lord Sesshomaru thank you!" she said embracing him again; her tears were soaking his soft boa. Rin always found comfort in this. She enjoyed having him close to her. "Rin, stop crying, you know I hate the smell of tears." He said bluntly. "I-I'm sorry, Sesshomaru-Sama." She said sniffling. "It's just that… I always want to be with you, you won't leave me right?" she said in a sweet voice. "No." he answered coolly. "Thank you, Sesshomaru-Sama. Thank you for not leaving me." She said as he returned to his dog form and wrapped himself around her. "You are welcome, rest now." He growled nudging his boa over her shoulders.
